I love lighthouses myself, last summer I toured about 8 different ones in Cape Cod and frequently visit the lighthouses here in NJ.

Watch out Andrew, you will become addicted. You will start planning vacations around lighthouses.

My name is Larry N., and I have a lighthouse problem....

Hahahahaha
Have you been talking to my family?? ;) I tried to get them to go to Michigan in the winter so I could get some COOLIN ice formation shots. Hubby's comment was..."DO YOU KNOW *&$%^# COLD IT IS UP THERE??"
Ummmm, yeah hon, that's the POINT...cold, ice, get it? :P
We didn't go, but I SWEAR I'll be there next winter with or without em!

Here's a couple of shots of a frozen Lake Michigan lighthouse (St. Joseph, MI) from last winter.

In addition to braving freezing cold, you also have to be very careful walking, as one slip could put you in some very cold water. About 30 seconds to hypothermia, maybe a bit longer til you lose conciousness and drown.

We didn't have good weather (in fact it mostly rained), but we went to Martha's Vinyard yesterday for the day to visit my sister-in-law who is working there.
I was able to get this shot:

I've always wanted to get out and take some pictures of the lighthouses around here, but its so hard to get any that are better than my mom's. She is brilliant at capturing these structures, I should get her to post some.

Just taken a few days ago this June. I'm terrible at saving pics for the web - the compression artefacts in these drive me crazy...

Here's one I scanned in from an old negative and turned to B&W:

Barbados, East Point Lighthouse

The color version was nice, but I liked the tonalities, plus the negative was scratched and cloning in B&W worked more nicely.

Hmm... Not a single Michigan lighthouse, at least not labeled, in the whole bunch...

Looks like something I need to take care of the next trip out of town my wife and I have planned...

"Okay, just one little detour..." (45 minutes out of the way later.)

"Wow! Would you look at that? A lighthouse! I just have to get a few pictures of that..."

Muwhahahahahhaaha...

Ummm.............. all three of my images are in Michigan, St. Joseph to be exact. Even says so in my post.

Patents4u's images are in Michigan as well, though he only says that later in the thread.

I finally have a lighthouse picture to share!!! Port Bolivar, taken just after departing the Galveston ferry. Of course, it was cloudy and drizzling, but what the heck... :o)

beautiful shot Laurie....are the clouds natural, or did you have to burn them to get that look? Regardless, it's a great pic!!

I'm a guilty burner...the original was quite lackluster so I had to REALLY adjust it! :o)

Just a warning to anyone contemplating a visit. Always hate to hear that someone has fallen in and died because they were doing something stupid and didn't know any better.
