My score has been steadily rising all day - so far, so good! I need to get my skills up to start at a higher place, though . . .

It's a torrent of 6s and 7s for me. But so far, the 6s outnumber the 7s.

I'm not going to post my score I don't want to jinks it. But at the current rate I have been climbing I might even get a new personal best out of this one. I am not going to get my hopes up though. Usually scores rise in the middle then have a not so nice drop at the end of a challenge.

well well well, I just figured out why my image is scoring so low thanks to a DNMC comment - THANK YOU for telling me. I had another comments that hinted at it but didn't say DNMC

the challenge was compilmentary colors
it said
"your main sets of complementary colors are red/green, blue/orange, yellow/purple"
it said YOUR MAIN SET - I didn't read anywhere that is said those were the only complimentary colors you could use! lol I guess eveyone took that literally except me! Can't there be more sets of complementary colors besides those listed? Oh well....

Funny. I was thinking that when finding something to submit. How anal would people be? Apparently pretty anal. We should have gone over the hall to the shapes challenge, where apparently anything goes.

Yes there are more complementary colors then just the ones listed in the challenge description. One web page about it is here. However, I still saw several that I feel were DNMC.

Of course there are, the problem is that most people aren't sure what they are. They are only privy to the primary colors and their counterparts. I think with this one it was definitely better to stick to the primaries that everyone knows. It's tough going out on a limb here, as its usually a 50/50 shot whether people are going to get it or not.

Here's a more straight forward option:

complimentary colors

Basically, it's what's opposite on the color wheel.

However, even if you use one not on the list, it's still close to the ones on the list: red-green, violet-yellow and in between purplish-yellow green. There were a some shots that seemed to make up their own complimentary colors...

Exactly, I think complementary colors are pretty strait forward, but I still gave good scores to things that were close. Like some of the reds that were put with greens looked a little orange to me but as long as it was still more on the red side than orange I gave it to them. But there were a few that completely ignored this and just put whatever they wanted together. The problem is complimentary has two meanings. One meaning is just colors that look nice together, the other is colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. I think the challenge was pretty specific on which one it was talking about.

At 100 votes, the all 6's is in doubt... I think we should limit the voting to only they peeps that vote in the first hour. They do the best job ;-)

Just bear in mind that complementary colours (as indeed primary colours) are different for light and pigments. Given this is a photo challenge, I'm assuming light when I mark them.

I completely misread the challenge description. I thought it said submit the crappiest photo you've taken this week. Did it not say that at one point? I would be KILLING that challenge.
