I didn't understand the challenge until I looked at the previous shape challenges. Now I get it a little more. I thought it was supposed to be about shapes -- like squares, rectangles, etc.

So I couldn't figure out why this one did so well in the previous challenge.


But now I get it -- it's the shape of the vine that makes the photograph interesting, not the actual ant itself. If the vine was straight, the picture would not be nearly as intriguing. So it's about the shape.

So, I get it now. However, when looking at the challenge, it's hard to figure out. Some are obviously interesting because of the shapes, some are not, but the ones in the middle are a little confusing to separate out whether it's the shape, or what...

This one is going to take some time.

Got hit hard with the last few votes (last 5 averaged 4.2) so that dropped me below a 6 but I have faith it will rise again.

I probably won't vote this challenge, because I have too many issues with too many of the entries, I think I might have given a score very similar to his overall average though... Some real trash in this challenge, a few real gems too, but even the ones that, at first, look like eyecandy - upon further review are noticeably flawed... =\ Then again, maybe I've just been hanging out around here too much :)

The latter, I think. DPC breeds flaw finders like a stagnant pond breeds mosquitoes.

I was overly generous, and gave many things the benefit of the doubt. Was surprised to find that I gave an average of 6.4 -- because it's really not that great of a challenge. But that's what I gave, so that's how it's staying.

Hopefully people will give mine the benefit of the doubt, too. :)

I agree with most of the comments on this challenge, this is a sub - par, challenge and people have used it as a F/S, looking at the past Shapes challenge this one doesn't even come close to Brilliance.

I was looking though my shots from last week while I was on the bus to Toronto this morning and I realized that I had two much nicer pictures that I could have entered.

... not that i'm complaining about a 6 or anything. lol

I'm pretty much stumped as to why this image is getting pounded by the voters. But hey, my average vote received is 5.3. So I shouldn't be surprised that people think that my entry sucks. I'm getting pretty tired of DPC.

It might be pretty annoying! I always think DPC is a test in this world for us, if we pass, we go to the Photography heaven where we always receive 7 or above no matter what :)
