...the Average score and the Midrange score in the challenge history? I may be being stupid here but I'd have thought they were the same? and why don't we have a median score ;)

The average score would be what you get when you add all the votes together, given to everyone, and divide by the number of votes given. Note that this says nothing of how many entries are on either side of it.
The midrange score is the actual score someone got that has, as near as possible, the same number of entries above and below it.
If I remember my Stats classes well enough.

Not positive but I would guess the mid-range score is the MEDIAN score.
Something like this:
The AVERAGE score is just add all the scores together and then divide by the number of photos.
The MEDIAN score would be the score where half are higher than it is and half are lower than it is.
if there were 5 images: 10,10,5,4,3 - tha average would be 6.4 (32/5)
and the median would be 5

It probably has something to do with that mean-median-mode thing they taught us in algebra...that stuff I said "Why do we need to know this stuff?" Now I know why I needed to know it...wish I hadn't zoned out then! LOL ;o)

right, gotcha, been a long time since I was at school lol. So, in my profile where it shows my challenges entered there is the average vote for the challenge. Does the percentile score show the relationship betwix the average or the midrange score? (I guess its the midrange) More to the point, why am I asking this! Its way past my bedtime (02:32 gmt) so shall pick up the sarcastic comment in the morrow :)

Percentile shows what percentage of the entries score lower than yours. |
