i have the negatives from my wedding that i would like to get scanned. My wife objects to mailing them out so i am looking for a place in the south jersey/philadelphia area that will scan negatives.

Also, What kind of quality can i expect to get from scanning them?

I don't know the area, so I can't recommend someplace, but one thing to think about... a lot of places will ship them out to be scanned somewhere else (which creates the same concern), so you'll want to ask whether they scan them in-house or not.

If you're really worried about someone losing them and have the time, I'd just go buy a scanner. They're fairly inexpensive these days.

I always heard that "marriage" was one of the negatives from a wedding.

I've never used any myself, but here's a selection on BH (sorted by price of course).

so since this is the only time doing this, am i safe buying a cheap model or should I just find a shop that uses a more expensive better model.

If you want quality results, you really need to have them done with a high-quality scanner. The results from cheap scanners will not be good for anything but very casual use. If you are picky at all about image quality, don't go there.
