I would like to see a link on each photographer's profile so that I may view their statistically favorite photographers. I think it would be neat to see who other photographers really like based on the votes they give them. I was looking at my own and Constance McGuire is definitely mine... After 12 votes on her photos, my average on those votes is 8.667.

I think it would be nice to see what kind of photography people really like based on their votes.... comments?

Great Idea John, I am much more interested in seeing the name behind the photos I like, More so than seeing the photos behind the person I like.

Gotcha,

If you are talking about being able to see your OWN statistically favorite photographers, that feature already exists here - it was actually what started the ball rolling on the whole site favorites feature.

I think what John was talking about was being able to see other people's statistical favorites. The idea has its merits and drawbacks, and Drew has been considering making that available. I personally would like to be able to see other people's statistically favorite photographers, but not statistically favorite photographs.

I don't understand the 'statistically favorite photographs'. It looks like a list of photos that I have voted on in descending order by score... Is that all it is?

btw- what would a drawback be of having that available?

Hey, what's up with the limit of 15? I have lots of favorites :P

i think the 15 limit makes sense. it kind of forces you to not be wishy washy : ) .. After all, if 'everything' is your favorite, then what's the point? :) :) :)

It was really just a space concern, but I'm a pushover. I'll move it to 25, so long as magnetic doesn't get mad ;)

It''s too hard of a decision for me. I keep noticing other photographers who are just as good as the ones that I''ve picked. And it seems like it would be wrong to remove people. Besides, it sort of ruins the fluidity of the list if people just pick 15 then forget about it. It''s not interesting if it never changes, and obviously there will be new photographers, so what about them?

Heh. That''s what I get for getting distracted and taking half an hour to write something :-)

You'll either have to use some discretion and choose your real favorites or take advantage of my desire to please and get me to move the limit higher ;)

i think 15 was a good limit, i'd even say 10 would be enough. :)

The list can be whatever you want it to be.

Top 25 all time favorites. Top 25 last challenge. Top 25 portrait artists.

I want to make a top 25 grumpy old curmudgeons list..but we all have dreams :-)

Showing statistically favorite photographs would effectively reveal how people voted on individual photos. Showing statistically favorite photographers might cause some people to question/harass others about their voting patterns, for example, to accuse them of unfailry favoring their friends or to say they're trying to be disruptive because they don't think the person's voting patterns make sense.

That's exactly what it is.

I don'c care much about the statistically favorite photos, but I would like to see who other photographers like according to their votes... that would be meaningful information.

i think it's useful to see whom I've liked. I wasn't aware that I had actually responded positively across the board to certain phorographers, so that was an eye opener.

i want to add here that maybe the 15 favorite limit should be listed in the manager so that people can be aware of it before they go crazy adding and then hit that wall ..

I am looking at "Statistical Favorite Photographers" I think what I see is the photographers who have rated "My" photos the highest. (I love these guys, Thanks) However, what I was expecting to see is the list of photographers who's photos "I" have consistantly rated the highest.

I agree... I just dumped all my favorites and have started redoing them with the 15 photographer limit in mind :)
