Just for historical interest the following explanation. Most everyone knows or has heard about "A Bridge Too Far" This was the bridge that featured in the battle of Arnhem and Operation Market Garden in 1944 during World War Two. Subsequently a movie was made in 1977 about this battle and called "A Bridge Too Far" The actual bridge was destroyed a month or so after the battle but was eventually rebuild exactly like the original and reopened in 1948. It was named the John Frost bridge in 1977 after the British commander that held and defended the bridge against the Germans.
The actual bridge in Arnhem was not used in the movie as the buildings surrounding it were by now too modern for depicting the era in World War Two. Instead the Wilhelmina bridge in the town of Deventer was used as it looks very similar to the actual bridge in Arnhem.

My entry in the bridge challenge I called "Not A Bridge Too Far But Near" because it is a bridge that is approximately 35 kilometers away from the actual bridge in Arnhem and also featured during the same battle Operation Market Garden. The bridge in my entry is still the original bridge as it was from that time and is now called the John S. Thompson bridge after the British commander who captured it from the Germans.

Ps. I gave myself a comment since no-one else seemed to think it was worth one.

Ps. There is another entry in this challenge called "A bridge too far" by DanielCheong but that is not the bridge too far at all. That bridge is the Waal bridge in the town of Nijmegen. More on this bridge here: //www.stephen-stratford.co.uk/nijmegen.htm
