This is NOT anything like what I submitted for Extraordinary, but I thought about it. I would have called it "Extraordinary Ways to Transport Tourists." I'd love any critique you'd care to offer!

Great composition. Do you have a ND filter? Should help on the top right. |

Thanks, faidoi. No ND filter yet, but I was using a polarizer, although I'm not sure I rotated it properly in this image. The woman on the bike was quite nervous about having me take her picture (she couldn't imagine why I'd want to!) so I didn't fiddle too much when she got into position. I took just two snaps and this was the better of the two.

I could get used to the larger form in the shot! :o)
Great picture...love the juxtaposition of the two!

Any other opinions? Be curious what score you would have given this... :-)

That one would be an easy 8 and a looksee later for more study. You found a good one that tells a great story. |

In an Extraordinary Challenge I might not go as high scoring as I would let's say against a phenomenon (weird weather type, strange mishap) type shot.
I thought it looked familiar, it could be that I go to this very place every weekend (or every other weekend). This is an excellent picture and I enjoy the perspective. I would have scored high (7-8 for me) but not as high as I could given the challenge.
Have you tried capturing the boat just down the pier towards seaport village (you know the one I mean (don't want to give it away), just opened to the public) from the $2 Ferry?
A good capture of that one might be quite impressive as well.

To be honest, I probably would have given it a 3 or 4 as I don't consider the elements to be extraordinary. I also think the backlighting and small size make it somewhat difficult to see the details of the face. The washed out sky, lens flare, and routine setting also don't add to the photo or more specifically give it an extraordinary feeling.

I don't really see anything extraordinary either.
Would have given it a 4. |

Thanks, everyone. In a way, I agree with ALL of you, which is why I didn't enter this picture in the challenge. For once I trusted my gut and it looks like my gut was right. And awpollard -- I know exactly what you're talking about and I've taken lots of pics of "it," but only from the sidewalk. It's going to be there until October or so, which gives me plenty of time.

I thought about putting in this one for the extraordinary challenge. But the one i put in..nobody has seen..and I think it fits the challenge. This is a picture of a house down the street from our apartment. It's falling apart really bad. I don't know what i would have called it though.. anyway..here goes..

that picture is extraordinary for me because if you see the house up close and in person..there is moss covering it and there are cracks so deep it makes you wonder if the people that actually live in this house know how bad they are living. This is extraordinary to me because it's hard to believe that people live in a house as such and in a decent neighborhood. The house is very pink..this picture has been untouched only for resizing.

Hey, if you tweaked the hue a bit you could have used this for the Purple challenge ;)

This was the shot I did not enter in the Extraordinary challenge. I figured it was just too strange and disturbing.
Titled: Extraordinarily Familiar

What wouldn't?
Great shot Crystal. Looks like something someone would create in a painting.
