When I said "never again" I actually meant it in a very positive way. It was very fun! I can't wait to do it again! Woo! It was great! I don't believe I haven't done it in every challenge since!

Whew!!!!!!! I just finished the comments for all the portraits. I have also finished voting on all the images in the other two challenges. I think I have carpal tunnel syndrome now...Owww... :o)

I'm just glad I voted on all the Free Study entries. With revisions! I only commented on 2 entries. (sheepish grin)
I commented on 42% of the Color Portrait entries before I knew about Cool's pledge. I've just looked at my profile and discovered I've made 933 comments since I became active on this site in April of this year. You can't go by when I joined back in March of '03 because I always ignored the email updates from DPC and never entered any challenges or even voted on any. By the time you get the DPC email, the challenge deadlines are almost up. I can't recall what made me actually check out the site again back in April. Maybe there was a particularly compelling winning photo. |

This is slow going, I don't think I would get it done on a larger challenge. What is really slowing me down is that I am attempting to leave a truely useful comment on each one. Some of them, however, are very hard to do this with; on both ends of the spectrum. There have been a few that I have nothing significant to add other than to tell them what worked well for me, and others that I have hit the skip button on because I don't know where to begin -- or maybe a bit afraid to.
Oh well, I have only spent a few hours on it so far, so I should still be able to get done. Just needed to take a bit of a break before they all started to look the same.

Has not gotten any nasty PMs, so must be doing an ok job of it. :p

I've met the pledge, and did so honestly.
Some entries just do not require helpful comments.
I gave 6 nines and 12 eights; more high numbers than I ever have. There are many fine portrait photographers at DPC.

I'd do it if I was a member (non-member challenges take too long since there are so many submissions). I find commenting helps improve my own images (and I have a lot to be improved). I'll give a pledge to comment on as many as I can in the current challenge.
And I agree with another posting in these threads that our average votes need to become higher! |
