I've been looking into buying a Canon 300D. I've been doing a lot of research and I know about grey market cameras. If I buy grey market it'll have a significantly lower price but it won't be backed by the US warrenty. So if I buy grey market and something goes wrong with a chip it could become very coastly to repair. One that does have a warrenty will have a much higher price.
I was wondering if anyone here has bought through a grey market and if so have you had any problems that a US warreny would have covered. Also if I buy from a grey market does that mean that there will be a higher chance of me having to repair something other than from a retailer with a US warrenty? |

Check out this thread for some insight about prices that seem too good to be true. They usually are.

Note that that is a quite different thing to grey market equipment. Places like B&H also sell the grey market, non-US warranty gear and back it with their own replacement policy.

| The risk of buying grey market decrease when the popularity of a camera model increases. I would check into the availability of after-market extended warranties before making the purchase. Mack Camera, in your state, is one reputable place to look. |

The reason I pointed out that thread was because he says "significantly lower price". Typically, gray market items are a little less expensive, but not "significantly". I wanted to make anybody reading this thread (especially MaYz) aware that there are companies out there who give the term "gray market" a bad name because of the "antics" they pull to get their price so low.
