According to his profile page - wkoffel - he's been online at the site since the 13th of this month. Is this a record? Can he make it to the fortnight? I'm agog ...

Maybe he went on holiday/vacation and forgot to turn off his computer :P

Maybe he read those threads about scores going down while you sleep and got too scared to go to bed?

:-) @ bod.

I have an image of him with eye-lids propped open, continually hitting th score update link until he's hypnotised himself.

Damned odd challenge he's entered, if it lasts two weeks though.

If that's the case, it's sure working. His last two scores have been pretty good:)

Maybe signed on from two different computers?

I signed on from two different PCs in my house and sure enough, I show up twice in the list.

One of the machines is a server that I rarely switch to and actually look at what is on the console - I use it for back end services. If I was browsing DPChallenge from that machine and left the browser open by mistake, I bet I would show online for weeks before I noticed.

Edit: I'm wrong on this - I was automatically logged off at some point on the second machine. EddyG must be right on this being an automated script of some sort.

My best guess is that he's using a browser such as Firefox which allows you to tell a page to refresh every X minutes. This would prevent him from being logged off by the site after a period of inactivity.

Maybe he's been writing a response to a comment from GlacierWolf. :D

My guess is that he has written some sort of script that automatically grabs his scores at some periodic interval so that he can graph his results over time, and/or try to determine each individual vote. This would prevent that particular PHP session from "timing out" due to inactivity.

This would also explain the multiple logins, since the "script" would be dedicated to just getting scores and not doing any actual browsing.

Is there an answer to what̢۪s going on? Does he know we have been concerned?

I'm so flattered!! Ha. Thanks to jacko for letting me know there was a thread about me. I really feel like I've "arrived" in the DPC community.

My favorite theory is that I am leaving comments for GlacierWolf. Imagineer, that cracked me up. :) And it's not a bad idea!

No, for the record, the winner is EddyG. See This Thread for the scoop.

The unintended side-effect of my online time has been rather humorous, though. This isn't the first time I've heard it mentioned in PMs and forum posts. :)

Just in case anyone wants to discount my commitment to the site, I'll point out that indeed I have spent numerous nights propping my eyelids open, manually refreshing to see my latest scores. :) And so far it's been paying off, I think I'm getting better at this stuff.

-Will

edited for spelling, d'oh!
