I love how they tout "Everything in focus in every frame" as being a good thing...
That's precisely what I do not like about P&S cameras... :) |

It's a sort of long video.
I was also thinking "what were they thinking" about the no shallow depth of field. I feel sure that it would be a processing item, so that you could defocus any part of the scene after the fact, to emulate an f1.2 or whatever you want. I didn't see a tripod mount either : P

Some great ideas in there. I think adding a shallow DOF would be a user selectable post-processing item. I think a few years ago there was talk about a camera system that shot in multiple DOFs and you could choose the `aperture` after the event - I`ll see if I can dig out the article and images.
The thing I see as being the biggest issue in a system like this is designing the actual optics to allow a sharp image using super high resolution and keeping it at a price that consumers can afford. If we end up with gigapixel sensors or even petapixel sensors a system like this would require, then the current range of optics would not be able to resolve detail that was shown in the concept video - and we all know how much good L glass costs - imagine an `all in one wonder camera` that would need incredibly advanced optics to actually be able to resolve that kind of detail.
Another thing I found interesting, and this leads on from the thread started by Thingfish yesterday is that they didn`t mention 3D. Now I am thinking this is a more likely path camera manufacturers will go down first before attempting something like the wondercamera.
EDIT - also, the guy narrating that video - was it me or did he have the worlds most boring voice?
