OMG! Again. I must be the only one with a car small enough to fit. :-D
I may actually come in to work this weekend, I love this spot so much!

Maybe some of your fellow parkers have poor spacial awareness and look at the gap and think "There`s no way I can get my car into that" - looking at the righthand column it seems a few people have rubbed it up a bit. |
Yes, and though the space is fairly luxurious, the turn to get into it is pretty tight. My car has a crap turn radius and I have to take advantage of every inch of the far side of the drive to get in there. Both columns have pretty good rubs. I laugh when I imagine the women who did that to their SUVs. ;-) |

Anyone want to start a pool on how long until Slippy "slips up" and adds to the scuffs on those poles with his shiny new-used car?
I think it will be a good long while, but one day... one day Slippy is going to be just a little more tired than usual or be distracted by something shiny. Then he will resurrect this thread cursing the thing he once loved so much. |

For crying out loud... Can someone in the area visit the parking spot with a baseball bat and turn it into a less valuable spot for us so we can stop the boasting :-)
Yeah... I always go for posts when I can but rare to find one with two like that. As for price.... don't be parking in Boston anytime if you think that is expensive :-/ |

All my employers pay me, handsomely, to park my work truck at their places. I don't think that I have paid to park anything since I put a couple of quarters in a parking meter a couple of years ago, while in the city for an art and photo show featuring my niece and nephew's work.

The only problem is, the more you two become attached to one another, the harder it will be the morning you turn up and you find someone else filling your gap. I dont think we at DPC are ready for the emotional turmoil this may cause. |

Haha. I wasn't watching my passenger side-view mirror while backing out yesterday and it was pure luck I didn't scrape it. Missed by a hair. It's all part of having such an Awesome Parking Spot. |

Slippy, you may want to give the owner of the spot a little extra cash to put a "Reserved-Hours" sign on it for you, since it's making you work week so much nicer.

I have a somewhat similar awesome parking spot that's got a metal pole and a light pole on one side, and it's right in front of my apartment. The catch? I have to back into it from an awkward little cul-de-sac thingy. There's a neighbor that sometimes is sitting outside and will watch me park and actually give me a round of applause as I get out of my car. Out of respect I do a little curtsy, of course.
I've successfully missed the pole for about 5 years now, but I've had some very near misses. I'll be watching the van on the one side then face forward again to finish backing in and be literally startled how close I am to the pole. I look out my window and, BAM, it's right there inches from my face. My heart will pound almost as if I had actually hit it. And now, they've just repaved and relined the parking lot making my space smaller and closer to the pole! My luck may run out soon. |

You should paint over your new lines and re-paint them to make your spot bigger! ;-)
When my wife parks the Mazda 5 (mini minivan) in the garage, she doesn't look at the front of the car to see where to stop. She lines up a mark on the side of the garage wall with her nose. She's figured it puts the back bumper in just far enough to close the garage door. As soon as we win the lottery I'm going to move the mark so the garage door comes down on along the back of the car for a joke. |

Heck, I'll just make a stencil and paint my own sign. |

The ultimate solution:
Newcarforwoman, Youtube
Back up tip; If you know that the space is wide enough for the vehicle to fit, you only have to watch the mirror on one side to back the vehicle into the gap. If you are looking back and forth between the L & R mirrors, you are dividing your attention and losing the advantage of continuity of concentration. It's a truck driving trick.

Good solution for women. I'll think about trying the tip. My problem is that I usually am cutting in hard one direction or the other, and angling in. |

OH THE HUMANITY! OH THE HUMANITY!
I'm all happy, pulling into the garage, after the previous nights' dreams of the Awesome Parking Spot.
SOME ASS-HAT IS IN MY AWESOME PARKING SPOT!
I was very confused, and drove forward & back a couple of times in front of the Awesome Parking Spot in disbelief. Finally, I decided if I can't park in the Awesome Parking Spot, I'd park next to it.
Then I found the exit was locked, and also the next exit was locked and only unlocked by pulling a fire alarm. I resisted the urge and found another exit door, but before trying it, saw a parking spot that was better than where I was currently. So I put my car there:
It's no Awesome Parking Spot by any stretch. It's a little dark, in an out of the way corner, and by the only unlocked exit I could find, which leads into a secure hotel lobby, at least. But I'm expecting to find a couple of crack-whores camped out behind my car when I leave tonight. Or maybe a pimp will be renting out space inside my car.
I miss my Awesome Parking Spot. :-( |
