How's everyone coming with their portrait entries?
I'm trying to decide which I hate worse, trying to get the lighting right or finding an appropriate backdrop that doesn't happen to come off my bed.

1. This thread was slipping too far down the list. (bitty bump)
2. With (currently) only 17 entries shouldn't be hard to make the top 20 this time!
3. What do you use for a backdrop (other than a bed sheet)?

Check your local fabric store remennants section, I got huge pieces of Black Velvet, Burgandy, Gray and some White gauze looking stuff (I'm a guy I don't know what it is) for under $20. All were good size, at least 4'x8'.

Also for those of you that might not have studio lighting. I grabbed a couple clamp lights and 100W incandescent spot bulbs at Big Lots! for a bank breaking $7.00. Bounced off the Sun reflectors from my car and I got some pretty warm lighting. |

I'm probably going to get the coveted "Brown" ribbon with this challenge but who cares. I don't. I like the picture I'm submitting and it's not even in a studio-like setting.

Yes, the remnants counter is a great resource ... you got a great bargain -- any one 4' x 8' piece of velvet is worth way more than $20. |

I don't like to fly and I HATE to be on the "other side" of the camera but send me a ticket and I'll be there. I'd love to see your beautiful country (and maybe you could give me some pointers on photo techniques while I'm there????)
Seriously, good luck with your quest and your photos. Can't wait to see what you enter because I know it will be totally awesome!!
