I just have one thing to say .... You DONT have to enter every Challenge. I just sat here for the last hour or two voteing on all the pictures for Newspaper, And i must say that a good 60-70% would never make it to print. A lot of people are posting nice pictures and giving them a crafty newspaper title. Witch cheapins the challenge. So please if you didnt get the perfect pic for the challenge dont enter. there will be plenty more challenges to enter. |

No im not complaining on the picture taking because we all are learning how to take pictures. What i cant handle is people entering off topic pictures. Some pics in this challenge were KICK ASS but they did not fit the challenge. All im saying is that i would like to keep voting on all the pictures in a challenge buts its so hard when alot of them i have to give a bad mark because they dont fit. |

I was just thinking, just where in the rules does it mention thinking?
I see specifications for camera type, date taken, file size, and a few subject limitations, but nowhere do the rules say anything about thinking. |

'Have fun' is normally mentioned in the challenge description. Are we allowed to submit if we didn't have fun? |

"Remember those two weeks you spent narating your own life?"
"I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. I looked with a grimace at the questionable meal Lois had placed in front of me. Of course I'd never tell her how disgusted I was with her cooking, but somehow I think she knew. Lois had always been full of energy and life, but lately I had begun to grow more aware of her aging. The bright, exuberant eyes that I had fallen in love with were now beginning to grow dull and listless with the long fatigue of a weary life [Lois punches Peter]... I awoke several hours later in a daze."

In reply to the original post: (copied from a different thread)
I just wanted to bring up a point... If at first you think the photo isn't newspaper related, check to see if it would fit in a different section of a newspaper. Such as arts / entertainment; family; home / garden... etc etc. |

Good point !
I have never in my intire lifetime (which is maybe not that long) seen a photo that was no way it would appear in some newspaper, there are all kinds of newspapers. When I first saw the name of this challenge I thought, woow, how about all the people how always complain about your shot not fitting the challenge, what will they do now. |

Are all your entries perfect?
Disturbs me a bit if someone thinks it proper for them to discourage others from entering just because the entry is not perfect by that persons standards. I think the idea here should be to encourage less-than-perfect entries. And to encourage voting and commenting by ALL. |

I agree that the headlines are not great but the pictures are pretty good. I am taking into consideration that most people are not as experienced at writing headlines as they are at taking pictures. I am weighing my scores more heavily on the photo not the headline. The people that did a good job on both are obviously going to get much better scores from me.

I made the mistake of coming up with a "dramatic" headline (reaching WAY back to the high school newspaper and UIL contest days) that might save my mundane photo...but I don't think it's working! ;o)

my only point i was tring to make was that if the challenge was Dogs, Dont submit a picture of your Cat. I just feal that its 11pm only an hour brfor deadline and still no picture .... what to do? hmmmm ok ill take a picture of my car parked in the driveway and call it "Gas prices so high ... people are forced to take a buss to work." I am not discuraging people from enterting im just saying that its ok if you didnt get a picture for a challenge because there will be lots more to enter. |

I don't know...I am so addicted to this site. If I can't check my score every 10 minutes I don't know what I would do. I am going on vacation for a week with no computer. It's going to be weird. Although I will have my camera :-)

I must apologize for myself..I've made a mistake thinking the photo should be in black and white because of the newspapers having only black and white photos. In my case it is a real pity though..it's just that after all these topics of: you don't meet the challenge and so, I have become a bit frightened..it's like every way I go is the wrong way, so I thought last night: let's not send in the colour version, because then I will get low scores from people thinking it has to be B/W (imagine my surprise when I saw a whole lot of coloured photos!).
I know the challenge rules said it had to be in B/W, but I just got confused..
Lesson learned: next time I'll just do what I want to do without thinking what others would be thinking!
