My first entry cannot be recreated. The sheltie mix dog is back in MI at my mom's house. The one pug has passed away. I was happy to read that we can choose another members first entry in this case. I have already found two 1st entries from other members here that I would love to recreate. Both look like they would be fun to shoot, and also be challenging for myself. Now I have to decide which one ... or shoot both and pick whichever turns out best.

Why on earth would I want to do ANOTHER attempt at photographing a woody with my wife's bathrobe as a background? Wasn't once enough? :) Nope...probably going to dig in other peoples collections.
eta: Hmmm... seasonsandyng5 would be a good candidate... :)

You know what's funny? My first entry was in Woody II. It's also not something I have any desire whatsoever to try and re-create. |

I have a question about this challenge. Does the recreation have to be for the same challenge description as the original entry, or can we just reshoot an image we like and put our take on it, regardless of what the original challenge was? |

I'd say just put your own take on it. Like the brown ribbon deja vu challenges.

Brown Ribbon Deja Vu II

I found a first entry the other day and was like "yeah. that's for me!" but then I was like "Oh noes. I'm not a member." Afterwards I was like "I can't remember that image." And now I'm like "oh noes I can't remember that image!"

My very first entry in there bombed so badly that there's no way to re-create it and score higher with it! LOL I'd get the same comments no matter what I did to it! |

I'm in ! Entry number 8 :D
I was no way going to recreate my own....couldn't as it isn't possible. I had a couple I had planned on and then came across another today that I knew right away I had to do. I'm real pleased with it just hope others like it too. |

Another question. I looking through first entries, I see that a lot are "first entries" with new equipment. Does that count, or is it specifically a member's very first entry? |
|
|
07/15/2010 12:27:39 PM · #20 |
I read it as only the very first entry. I think that's what makes this so interesting, as most first entries were duds (definitely not all, but while looking through them, that's a trend I noticed). Thus, this gives us an opportunity to really improve on a photo (hopefully!) :) |

I'd say not. If that was the case why couldn't you expand it to "this was my first entry with a beard," or "first entry in the free study," or "first entry I took left handed," etc :)
I think it's only the first entry.
I wonder if anyone'll put in the effort to find DNMC's.

Yes, that's what I thought too. Just checking to be sure. I also suppose that DQd 1st entries are also game? |

Does this challenge title to be exactly the same as the entry you are remaking?

Got my First Entry in and simply titled it what the original photog titled it. Seems the safest way to go. |

Thanks and good luck to us.
BTW, I was having some fun reading your monologue about Alamy. Encouraged myself to send the first batch now. I did not send any batches before because somehow I thought the images should be necessarily exclusive to Alamy and most of my perfect quality photos are already on Shutterstock.
