IMO, if every voter was diligent in looking at the topic and description and then rating the image accordingly, quite a few of the 'suspicious' ones would be voted down. Unfortunately though:

- it is advisable to rate an image as though it were meeting the challenge (so the DPC Gods say:-),
- the 'awe' factor of an image takes over the rational mind as soon as a potential 'DNMC' yet exceptionally executed image appears, and
- 'DNMC' has a very subjective definition. And God forbid you sought clarification on an ambiguous title or description... hell will come lose;-);-)

Now back to scores: an even 4.60000,
1 comment ('DNMC'. LOL. If you have an exceptional image, the definition of DNMC can change 'like that'. If not, even one that meets the challenge will be torn down:-).

I have so far given 2 10's. One of them is a clear winner (for me). And the other has mass appeal. The first one is simpler and will goto my fav's list post challenge. For the second one, it only stimulated an 'awe' factor in me, and is very much a st up, so there it ends.

In the end, two great images, one simple, other setup and flashy. Guess which one I would want to remember by fav'ing it...;-)

I am in this challenge and I just want to say that there are a lot of wonderful shots that are creative and technically well photographed. It's not as easy challenge to vote on. However I never did get too caught up in challenge descriptions as I resent being told how to interpret many things, including photography, art, books and so on.

I am giving out scores that are higher in average than mine - ( I am between 5.7 and 5.8 depending on when I press that damn update button) and it's a joy to vote on. I plan on upping some scores and leaving comments as I know how much I appreciate them.

Even if your image is validated does not guarantee the validation notice being displayed on it. Apparently they only put it on there if a lot of people question the image.

Don't worry, Wendy....I'm holding off and looking first~ :) LOL May actually skip voting in this one and move onto the other challenges to vote and comment in this week instead. It IS a hard thing to figure out and I think that is where some of the lower scores are coming into play. I think that there's a lot of GREAT shots entered into this one BUT....I'm having trouble with my perspective on how the description of the challenge was worded as to my definition of what is "point of color" and what isn't. When the description said "Capture an image where a point of color is the main subject. No sort of selective desaturation allowed!", I, personally, (in taking my own shot) figured it meant that there shouldn't be vivid colors (thus, the "no selective desat) and the main subject was to be of color. So, I took that to mean that the rest of the shot should be muted colors with a stand-out color OR that the rest of the shot should be near a B&W status. That is just MY interpretation of it though in taking my own shot. This is where I'm running into problems in voting because I see so many vivid colors in most shots, causing me to have to change my own personal take on the description. I'm looking at the shots as a whole though. A lot of them are FANTASTIC and I guess that is where someone else has said that it is more like a FS challenge. :)

And, here it goes...BUT....everytime I post my score, it plummets another full point! LOL Kiss of death to scores in posting a score in these threads?! LOL I'm beginning to believe it! ;)
