Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

I have a chance to buy a lens off E-Bay and save $400.00 but no warrenty. The person that owns it is a photographer and designer and the pictures of the lens looks real good. HELP Is it a big chance to take ?

A friend did something like that before and lost all his money on it.
Then again, I bought my phone on ebay and it's in perfect working order.

I would say that it depends of the original price. Is it a lens that costs $500 and the person sells it at $100? I would be surprise if it's the case.
If it worths $5000 and is now at $4600, I would be more hesitant...

Do you know why the person sells it?

She wants to upgrade and she has no need for this trpy of lens, 120-400mm./f4. I would pay $1100.00 (with filters) new and she wants $750.00.

That'd be a Sigma, yes? 2nd hand lens, $750 sounds quite reasonable. And after all, remember you wouldn't expect to pay full price for a used lens, so comparing new vs used prices isn't quite apples to apples. Personally I've bought from Ebay before, but it is Buyer Beware...so do your homework on their ratings etc. But you didn't provide an item link so I can only give you generalised answers.

she has never sold anything via ebay before... her record for buying has one positive and one negative. just keep that in mind. i would be a bit hesitant just because there is no established history. but thats my opinion.

be careful...she has a 0 rating...and i negative because she didnt pay...if it was me...i would stay away from this one...instead of ebay you can always try fred miranda and canon potn...and nikon may even have a site too...typically you can get the best prices that way for good equipment...

I can't check this from work because of our firewall, but 1 negative for non-payment out of 2 transactions does ring alarm bells. Maybe try keh.com - they have an excellent reputation?
