UPDATE: July 7th, 2010
Week 26 has been posted.
I know, you getting tired of me changing the landing page of the ranking site. Due to limited space on my ISP I had to drop the index page. I decided to use google sites as the landing page and you can view the weeks from there. Sorry to all those that have bookmarked the site. It should stay the same now :P
Here's the LINK.
Thanks,
Scott

Hey, Scott, since I'm lazy, can this be put in reverse order so we don't have to scroll down each time?
Just a thought... :D
Thanks for your work!

I tried that but could not get google sits to input a new text box above an existing one; I had to go in ascending order.
I hope everyone enjoys the new layout.

I can't figure out what some of the columns are for, what they mean, or how they're calculated. Is there a description of them somewhere?
It looks great.
Would it be possible to have the latest week on top?

I will try to explain it on the site later today.

I'm always interested and intrigued by the latest, even though I can really understand only the part about average scores for the year. Thanks, Scott!

Is there an explanation somewhere describing what the points and percentages mean? It just makes my head hurt trying to understand each column.

I will try to explain how the ranking system works. I hope this helps.
Current Week: The first column of course is the users ranking as of the current week. The ranking will go from 1st place to however many users have entered at least one challenge this year. As of week 24 that would be 2050th place.
Previous Week: List where the users were ranked the previous week. If an user has a " - " in this column it means they were not ranked the previous week.
UP/Down Arrows: Tells the user how many places they moved up or down this week compared to the previous week.
users ID: This column represents the users ID number issued by DPChallenge.com. The user_ID is key to updating any user name changes without the need for the user having to informing me.
User Name: This column list each users name that is ranked. If a user is not on the list then he or she has not entered a challenge this year.
Entries and Entry Points:Under Entries you will see how many entries each users has entered this year. This will determine the points each user receives in the next column (Entry Points).
Average and Average Points: Under Average you will see the users average score for the year. This will determine the points each user receives in the next column (Average Points).
%-ile and Percentile Points: Under Percentile (%-ile) is the users average percentile. Since each challenge has it's on degree of difficulty the same average in two challenge may not result in the same percentile. If you go to your profile page and look at each challenge you have entered this year beginning with challenge 1147 and add all the percentiles together and divide them by the amount of entries this year you will find that it is the same as the %-ile column. This will determine the points each user receives in the next column (Percentile Points).
Total Points: This column sums entry points, average points, and percentile points to show each users total points. The user with the highest total points is the current leader.
Points Behind:In this column you will be able to see how many points you are behind the leader. It will let you know if you closing in on the user above you or if he or she is widening the gap. Even if you don't go up in rank, if you lessen the amount of points your are behind the user above you; your on your way to catching up to the leaders.
In a nutshell, for each of three categories of participation/performance (# of entries, scoring average, and average percentile) you receive points. The points are summed, and the highest total is the current leader.
How points are calculated for each category of participation/performance (# of entries, scoring average, and average percentile): The user with the most entries receives the most points. The way the ranking system determines the amount of points to award the users is based on how many users are listed. As of week 24, 2050 users have entered a challenge and are listed. This means that the most points a user can be awarded is 2050. If next week another 10 users are added to the list because they entered a challenge for the first time the most points that could be award would be 2060. When there is a tie then the users will receive the same amount of points. If the users with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place were tied in the amount of entries they have entered then they would receive 2047 points each. You may ask why would they receive 2047 points instead of 2049 each. The reasoning in this is to urge users to enter as many challenges as possible to avoid the user below them from having the same amount of entries. So if the 2nd user would have had one more entry he or she would have gained 2 more points while 3rd and 4th would have stayed at 2047.
I hope this helps explain how the ranking system works. If you have any questions feel free to post.
Enjoy and have fun.
Scott.

Thanks Scott, I'm glad you're doing the math. I failed grade 11 advanced math even with a tutor. I'll trust that the numbers work and hopefully keep creeping up the list.
