Hey,

I told my friend to save some of my pics I have posted on DPC. She right clicks then saves as, but when she tries to open it there is nothing there. She also tried to copy them, but it doesn't work. I don't have access to my files right now (my hard drive is packed away). Is she able to get my pictures from the site? What should I tell her to do?

Thanks,

Julie

That's part of how the site is protecting images. Only the photographer can grab the images off the site.

Posting how to get around it here would defeat the purpose.

If you trust her, you could have her log in as you. Then she wouldn't have a problem getting your shots. Or you could go to her house log in, save the images for her and log out.

put the photos you want her to have in your workshop folder and give her direct links to the images. Images from your workshop folder are not protected.

Forgot about that! And so much easier this way!

Thank you so much!!! I am glad they are protecting our photos, but still glad that there is a way to get them to someone else also.

I am fairly new here so please forgive my ignorance on this issue. What is the difference between "workshop" and "portfolio" images. I am always wondered but been too embarrassed to ask. Thanks.

Your portfolio is viewable by everyone. The items you have in your workshop can only be viewed by you...unless you give someone the link to a photo in your workshop at which time they can also view it. You can move photos in and out of your workshop as you like. For example, workshop is where DPL team members place their photos when sharing suggestions. That way they can see the shot. This would also be the place one would place a potential challenge submission when you are asking someone for their opinion...not in your portfolio. Click your workshop, not your profile from the drop down of MY HOME, then you can upload directly into workshop if you like. If you go into your profile and upload...it becomes viewable by all.
Hope this helps. Typing on the fly...

That helps a lot. Thanks for the explanation.
