Has anyone thought this up yet? Perhaps have a National DPC get together? Say, like a long weekend somewhere mid country so that everyone has to travel? I know I'd LOVE for something like this.

And which 'nation' would you be referring to?

There can be organized meetings in other contries with a high concentration of DPC-ers as well.

How about if each country had a get together at different times so if someone from another country wanted to go to see some place new they could go to that country. Great way for the locals to show you where to get the best pictures. It was my girl friend idea really. She's kind of smart.

Needless to say this would be a huge undertaking that would require participation from beyond Site Council to make it a reality.

If it were to happen, where would you like to see it? I'll start off the list with some suggestions from me:

Ithaca, NY
Napa Valley/Sonoma, CA
Niagara Falls, ON
Phoenix, AZ (daytrip-distance to Sedona and Grand Canyon)
St. Louis, MO
Washington, DC

Any other ideas?

Also, how long would you want such a get-together to be, and what types of activities would you like to see associated with it?

Possibly a GTG coordinated with a photographic show or conference might be a good thing. PMA 2005 is in Orlando, FL Feb 20-23...

I agree that focusing it around an existing photography-related event would be the best bet. Like PMA 2005 (as kirbic mentioned) or Photoshop World in Vegas, March 8-10, 2005...

Hey! It's got one or two nice hills, a waterfall, a pretty lake and something called the Big Red!

3 waterfalls big enough to care about and probably 25 smaller ones in the immediate area. :)

Oh, I third Ithaca NY.

I spoke about this to the PTB once and while they're up for something like this to happen, it IS a HUGE idea. We'd need to know like a year ahead of time. It couldn't be anything before end of next summer.

You guys are right. It's a beautiful area. I'm just surprised people have heard about it. I live just a little ways away (Watkins Glen) and when I try to tell people I'm near Ithaca or Elmira they have no clue where those are. This area is very pretty. There are tons of waterfalls, lakes, and hills. I love it here. Waterfalls have become my most favorite subjects. If no one has been to Ithaca or this area, here are some waterfall shots of mine of the local falls.

Give us a couple of days and I'm sure we can. ;)

Jokes aside, I'd say that we need to consider where has cheap fares coming/going. So Australia is out. ;)
