Middle-click a link (click the scroll wheel on most modern mice) to open it in a new tab. I always have a plethora of pinatas--I mean--tabs open, and it's really the most convenient thing ever. |

I see what you're saying. You want automatic alphabetical sorting of your bookmarks? It might be nice, but I find it impossible to live without an organized, hierarchial bookmark layout. I organize it myself, and since there aren't that many bookmarks at each level (<20 usually) it's not hard. You know that if you drag a bookmark in the Bookmarks menu you can reorder them, right?
For instance, I have a Photography folder, and inside that I have a Software folder and a Hardware folder, among other things. Sorting might be nice for my folders but I find sorting the actual bookmarks by hand to be much more useful, I can put the important ones (DPC!) at the top.
Actually, I don't use bookmarks for the sites I visit on a regular basis, I just type the first letter or two of the host name ('dp') and press the down arrow, and Enter, and Firefox takes me there. Faster than touching the mouse. :) |

Originally posted by deapee: I tried it, seemed like pages loaded slower and a lot of things just looked different. For example, the text boxes on a lot of message boards got all skinny and you would basically have to type your message in a text box that is like 20 characters long instead of the normal one that streched the size of the screen.
One vote for IE from me. |
Hrmm...Just downloaded the latest version and I must say it seems to have come a long way. You guys are right, this tabbed browsing is great! There seems to be a ton of refinements made and I think I'm going to make the switch.
Also, incase some of you are like me and spend a decent bit of time infront of the computer straining your eyes at the ever-smaller text on websites, the Increase text size actually works on firefox whereas it doesn't seem to work on IE on all sites.
I change my vote to firefox :-) |

Wow, you're right. But you CAN reorder them in the Manage Bookmarks (choose 'Unsorted'), and this will affect the order in the Menu. |

Middle click!? Wonders never cease. I'll try that when I get home. Up to now I've been using either the right-button menu, or hold CTRL + left click... Thanks for the tip. |

firefox rocks!
edit: I just did it on the little icons at the left and works too! I can see your face now :)

If you hold down the CTRL key while scrolling, text size will automatically increase/decrease.

Just put www.nationalgeographic.com. If that doesn't work, make sure you are using the latest version of FF.

Once you have Firefox installed go to Tools->Extensions. click on "get more extensions" on the lower right corner an you'll find it right there among the most populars. For yor convenience, you can follow this link too Image Zoom (hope it works). Click on "install now" on the new screen that pops out, restart firefox and you're done.
Make sure you have "allow websites to install software" checked on Preferences->Web features. You can configure the extension bahaviour on Tools->extensions.

Have been using firefox for a couple of months now, it seemed fine at first, then I noticed some sites wouldn't load properly or couldn't click on site navigation titles.
So I compromise, I use IE for some sites and Firefox for others and have both running at the same time. |

The sites you don't see properly are the ones that use Active-X controls or other "enhancements" Microsoft has added out of the standard W3C HTML code. They will only work on IE, nothing else. There is an extension for opening IE "on demand" when a page doesn't load ok, but I cannot remember the name |

Funny, I haven't had a site not work in Firefox ever, at least since 0.9 or so. |

This is the issue I was talking about in an earlier post in this thread - I found that this happened to me when I used a certain "skin". Once I took that off, NO ISSUES at all.
