Interesting the London police recognized the privicy rights of their own, but not of their neighbor.
from the article:
Ms Holland is American - police have pictures of British addicts but were constrained by issues of confidentiality.

I'm assuming the law differs between the two countries.

That's certainly a shocker... less than 10 years...
The trouble is that, as with most things, when people are young and healthy they really can't imagine themselves being affected. They take the drugs and see no immediate effect other than the high and carry on. By the time they start detoriating physically they are already addicted and unable, in most cases, to kick the habit.

The pictures of miss Holland have been spread all around the world for several years... millions have watched the pictures of her and this kind of campaign has been used a lot in the US.
Can't say showing those pictures is indecent in any way, only good in a educational way. If miss Hollands relatives (Since she is diseased) object to showing these pictures then they maybe should think about stopping it, but first they should phone all the millions of websites where the picture is being showed for fun. And tell them to remove the picture....
I personaly can't believe people object to a sensible campaign like this. Be happy they are making some kind of effort not just settling with Crack babys and the big crack problem... |

Just go out to your local video store and rent Requiem for a dream, it makes you never want to do drugs...

Less Than Zero had that same effect on me in the 80's. |

Trainspotting is also a good one.

My father, who was once a brilliant man trained as an electrical engineer, ruined his mind, body and life with his heroine habit/alcoholism/fetish for pot. Now in his late 50's, he has to live in a home because he can't take care of himself. Thank God I didn't live with him as a child but seeing him thru the years has certainly made me anti-drug!
p.s. Not posting as a cheap attempt at belated sympathy - just thought I'd share. Drugs are evil! Hey, life sometimes throws a curve ball, eh? |
