I found this shot while browsing the galleries on Pbase.
I thought it was cute and a great idea for border use.

Why not have the subject step right out of the frame and into the living room? We could animate it to rotate above the imitation fireplace or train it to jump through loops in mid air.

When an 'effect' attracts more attention than the subject itself, I can't help getting the feeling that the photographer wants to direct that attention to himself as opposed to the image and its subject.

i'm still trying to figure out how to add borders like that in PS.. all I can figure out is how to add the standard outside border but i have had some good ideas for other kinds too.

Out of frame images is another interesting post-processing technique that can add another perspective to your picture. Put in a clear picture frame, they make a simple gift to family and friends. The technique is layering and erasing. Here is a link to a few.
