That's what I'm trying to do...started September 10th. This has already turned out to be a success. I have taken some shots that I would have never done if I didn't have a reason just to take a random picture. I'm enjoying it, but already have come down to the wire a couple of days, almost messed the whole thing up. I would recommend this for everyone, if you have the time. Well, take a look if you'd like. Thanks. Photo-A-Day

Good luck in keeping up with it for the full year...it's a great idea! I know I'd be dooming myself to failure if I aimed for a year, but I was already thinking about a similar goal for the month of November. Maybe if that goes well I'll try to make it two months. Or three or four. :)

I'm very impressed. There's such a great variety, too. Good luck with the whole project. |

Hmm... this would make a sweet New Year's resolution, but I've no idea if I could stick to it for an entire year... but I'm definitely tempted to give it a try. You've got a great selection of images there, much more varied that I expected. Good luck lasting the year! :o)

How about following Manic's suggestion and all trying to do something for 2005? With people from across the world it would make an interesting idea to view each other's as the year progresses! |

I'm arleady on board. This is good learning experiance about your own self and your photography ability. You'll find out that you probably know more and can do things that you thought you couldn't. Use this thread to post yours. When I thought about doing I thought about a month but then I was like why not just go for a year. Hope I can do it, but if there were more people looking at eachothers work and being supportive then I think reaching our goals would be much easier.
I just thought of this...maybe have a link on the front page of this site to everyones photo-a-day project. That way get more notice and would keep you from sliding away from finishing. Maybe that won't work....just have to keep this post going with other submiting their project here.

I started my Photo-A-Day project back in June. I have enjoyed it tremendously. Some days produce mediocre images and some don't. It is a challenge though and it does make me look at things I would normally ignore.
The project will end with this Photo Mosaic of all 365 images.

Are you manually inserting the reduced images into that mosaic, or have you hacked some code together to do it for you? Either way, a mosaic is one of the most unique outlets of a PAD project I've seen.

I'm inserting them manually. The mosaic design is 24x36" @ 300 dpi. The mosaic image area part of it is 20x30". Each square within the mosaic area is 1.25x1.25". There are 16 squares in a row and 24 rows, which adds up to 384 squares and I only need 365. So, in the end, there will be 346 square images and 19 that take up two squares dispersed throughout the mosaic.

Great work by the way!!

Ive been planing to start a PAD but decided to wait till the new year.
If some of us did this we could put together a gallery that has each photo from everyone next to each other for that day. It would be interesting to see who was doing what durring each day. I could host a blogger type board for people to post a picture with a short discription of that picture.
Let me know if your interested |

I recently created a 'front end' for my photo a day stuff here:
//photoblog.setzler.net
It contains my current photo a day shot and links to my archive at pbase.
Pbase has a 'blog' of photo-a-day stuff at //www.pbase.com/pad

I am...the only thing is I'm not sure I would have time to upload each photo each day.
I could commit to taking a photo a day...but edit and upload a photo a day as well? Not so sure...

With blogger you can change the date of your post, so you can allways retroactively change it. |

Clint
Nice work. I like your Shot from the Bass Performance Hall.
I also photographed the angels at Bass Performance Hall in Ft Worth, only I got stopped by the local Police when I did my shots :)
This is one of my many shots.

Good luck with this... I've been keeping a one-a-day photoblog since February, and yes, it is sometimes very difficult. But hey, if I can do it, anyone can... believe me!
Strange thing is that I've found I've submitted less to the challenges here since I started taking a picture a day.
Weird. |

Thanks, that's one of my favs. One thing I do have to worry about while doing this and posting them everyday is that some of the pics I choose also go in DPChallenges. I've made a little note that I put up for that day untill the challenge is over.

I don't think this is a huge issue. I have posted Photo A Day shots that ended up in challenges also.

Well setzler, if you don't think it's a huge issue than I'm not going to worry about it anymore. And the 20x30 poster is a cool idea, thought about what I would want to do...book, mozaic, poster, ect...

A book would be quite interesting, but it would be a little expensive to produce. I will likely turn mine into a PDF book of some sort.
The other thing I'm doing with mine is having 4x6 prints made of all the images and putting them in an album. It's fun to browse through occasionally, and will be even more interesting at some point in the future.

I really fancy giving this a go now!
Not sure though that I want to wait until 1st January 2005 but it is the most logical place to start. |
