Actually, the curve happened because my tripod wasn't straight up and down. I felt bad when I first started putting the pictures together ...but when the stitch was finished I actually liked the effect!

Where did you take the shot from?
I go to San Antonio quite often. Our youngest son lives there.
I did not know they had such a nice view point :)

I had this great idea that I would take pictures of the city *and* the lunar eclipse from atop the America Towers building.

Well... the idea was semi-good. When I got up there I found that it is extremely windy. The windy was probably moving the building... and even worse, it was hard to take a "long exposure" with my camera even on a "weighted tripod" because the wind was blowing on my camera.

So I went for shorter exposures and tried to take the pictures mostly when it felt like the wind was dying down.

By the way, here are a few of the images of the moon that I captured:

That is a gorgeous pano, David...I'm so glad you had a good time in our fair state! :o)

Great moon pics, btw!

I have to thank you and a few others for pointing me where to go. It was very much appreciated! :-)

It´s a great shot, would probably look very good printed out in a big size framed up on a wall. The only thing that bothers me a little is the curved horizon but that´s just my personal taste, I am very sure that others completely disagree with me.

However I am just curious on one thing, why do you say your "last shot"? Sounds like you are dying or something, isn´t this just your "latest" shot since you might very possibly be back to San Antonio someday?

I about cried when I first noticed that the pictures didn't line up. After stitching them I found I felt different about the curvature. Perhaps in the same way that a picture made from a fisheye lens feels "intriguing" even though you know it is wrong.

I was on a business trip an had never gone to San Antonio before, and so I had asked the people here for advice on where to take pictures. Then I posted new photos nightly... It was just sorta sad to think it had to come to an end.

Now that I'm home, I'll be back to the "same old grind". :(

I love the curve effect, it makes it look like the entire city takes up the whole earth or the picture is taken from above the earth. Very nice effect and perfect timing...not burnt out or too dark. Good job.

You did manage to get some great shots even with the wind :)
Nice work.
