How could anyone that actually read what the challenge was say this didn't meet it? What part of " Calling all night owls! Take your best photograph after the sun goes down." did this not meet?

Actually, I don't care :) Just wanted to introduce my brand new daughter Jamie (on the right)... We just came home from China where we adopted her :) This is just an excuse to put it in a thread...

generally speaking, when you refer to a night shot, it means outside. In the dark, long exposure times, utilizing the camera in a new way. Not just taking a picture indoors at night.

Sorry there was a misunderstanding.

Wouldn't the challenge have said "Calling all night owls! Take your best photograph outside, in the dark, with long exposure times utilizing the camera in a new way, after the sun goes down." if that's what it meant?

Just as an aside, it was a long exposure...

well...apparently most everyone else understood that "night" shot means a shot in which you can tell it's night. This could have been taken in the morning before they woke up, or mid-day durring nap time.

But then again everyone misunderstands every challenge no matter how specific or vague, so....

I voted it down for not meeting the challenge. There was no way to know if it was really taken at night or not.. Could have been taken when they woke up and been a morning shot. Sorry...

Sounds like a bit of narrow mindedness going on. I thought this was an excellent photo, an original idea and well executed. I gave you a 9 for the photo. Looking through the night challenge photos, clearly some of them could have been taken in a dark studio during the day, so really the comment that they can not actually verify that you took it at night is pretty weak.

Of course, this is all coming from a guy that submitted an obviously daytime photo in the night shot II challenge, just people did not catch on.

Bottom line, great photo and good idea. Unfortuantely, a city skyline at night may have done better for you.
