Hey guys and girls,I searched for this but couldnt find anything so im just going to ask. I went out to buy a 500W flood lamp for my portrait photography. Now I noticed everyone is using umbrellas too. I was wondering where I can find an umbrella like this? Or can I make my own?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank You.

make sure the material is heat resistant. |

Also keep in mind that with Translucent Umbrellas you lose a lot of light through the umbrella that does not reflect back. On the good side of that though, they can double as a softbox if you turn them around. I think you may be looking for more of a full reflective umbrella though.

I recently made an umbrella light similar to the one described below:

I picked up a nice used umbrella for around $20 US at a local photo store. |

I did a similar thing but with a different mounting. I found that the top of the housing is very fragile (sort of cast iron) and the one bolt carries a lot of weight when the umbrella is extended and folded out.
My umbrella is a very large light colored umbrella spraid with silver paint.
