Why is my file size decreased 1/2 to 1/3 after running Neat Image through it? |

Probably because of lost details. |

Yes. I think it's because it's smoothing out differences between side by side pixels. That results in less information needed by the editor to read and less information for the viewer to see. :( |

If you have the demo version : this is set to high compression and cannot be changed. |

You can choose, even 0 compression, or save as TIFF.
I have the home+ version, which works as Photoshop plug-in, so you don't have to save intermediate files. Neatimage shows up as filter in Photoshop. |

I researched this issue, too. Here's the answer I found:
.. in Demo it is pretty high (91 out of 100; 100 is the highest quality) and in non-Demo edition you can manually adjust it.
