if it's the same price, why wouldn't you just get a truly brand new one? if it's not, how much cheaper is it? |

$100 cheaper and if it freezes up I can still return it. Are they still freezing up or did the firmware fix it? I have decided to buy and been waiting for weeks.

Is it worth your time to take a chance for $100, and the trip back and possible lost images that you might never replace. If it was 30-50% cheaper then take the chance, but for the frustraition I would pay the extra $100 for new |

The firmware upgrade supposedly fixed it. If i was buying a 20d and had the opportunity to take that one and save $100, I probably would.

Ditto that - so long as the dealer is reputable. |

Way to go! I would have done it too.
What version of the firmware does it have? 1.0.2 or 1.0.5. If you still have 2 then install the new firmware and it's problems should go away.
Good luck!
BTW, if you bought it, then change the camera next to your name. Then you'll be more badasser! LOL!

Mr Slide man is thinking DSLR. :) That rocks.
Yes ... absolutely. Get one. Mine froze a couple of times, but the bottom line is that it's a badass camera and the new firmware will fix the problems.

Slide man has the 20d in hand, trying to figure out the firmware upgrade thing now. I'm still going to use slides for landscape stuff though. Not that I dont think I can get good enough with the 20d but just because I like it. :)

Hey hey, welcome to the 20D :)
What lights did you get, and what did they cost, as it is something I want to look into myself.

I waited for a cheap kit for a couple of weeks and finally gave up and our local store put together a kit for me. 2 M-300 Novatron, 2 SP stands and umbrellas. for $750. I think the m300s go for about $380 each so I came out good. With what appears to be better stands than come with the standard novatron kits. So I basically spent $750 to do a $500-$600 job. ;)
