has anyone been successful in taking their dslr into a basketball game? I'm going to a game tonight and they say on the website that they dont allow professional cameras with lenses excedding 4inches. I was wondering weather i should even try to take it. |

Your 10D should be ok as long as you don't have an attention attracting lens. What lens were you planning on taking? |

Out of curiosity, why would they not allow it?
But no, I've never tried taking a camera into a basketball game. At least not a pro basketball game. I hope to try it soon for high school games. So I'm interested in why there would be any restrictions? I wonder if the high schools will do the same thing...

Good lens, I'd say go for it and see what happens. |

I tried to take my Sony 707 to an NBA game once and they would not let me in with it.

Interesting. Did they tell you why? I'm trying to predict if I'll have problems at the local high school here in a little while... Thanks for any info!

This is purely a guess... but I'm thinking that with basketball, so many fans are so close to the action that they can get *really* good shots, and it would be easy for anyone to shoot a professional enough shot that they'd be able to sell them. And since the NBA wouldn't be getting any $$$ from those shots, they just prohibit them from being taken in the first place.
Again, just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason.

i would have to agree i dont think that there should be any problems what so ever with a high school game but nba i think its a different story. Which this is what i thought to begin with but i just wanted to make sure. i definetly dont want to leave almost 2k worth of equipment in my car and risk it getting stolen. It totally sucks too because im almost positive they wont let me through with my camera and i really wanted to try it out with some kind of professional sporting event.I wonder if football would allow it? |
