My brother had me do all of the photo work for his new company.BalBots.com . Please let me know how I did and what I can do to improve them. I am pretty happy with how they turned out. Most images were a combination of photo tecnique and photo shop.

Please visit my brothers site at BalBots.com and let me know what you think of the product shots and of the site. Thanks, Kevin

Great job Kevin! The first 3 are really good. I think the high key works awesome in those shots.I do think, at least from my POV, the close ups may have been more effective not so high key? I think that they look good, but they don't catch me as much as the first 3? I hope that makes sence. Just bad nit-pikin.

Jacko, these are the worlds first balancing robots. They come in kits that you can assemble at home. Kinda like remote controle cars. |

Ya kinda except these are programable robots about two feet tall. Its an enginering / hobby thing. I just really enjoyed the experience of being able to do the photos. I learned alot from doing this and cant wait to do more product photos. |

Great shots. The circuit boards shots are very good. I work in a electronics assembly research lab and I have found that circuit boards are very hard to shoot because of all the reflective surfaces. Once again great shots and good luck with your future work. |

I think they're very good. I'm not very keen on the faded bottoms to some of the images, but overall they look very good. Good lighting and I like the reflections of the product.
Good job!

Looks nice.
Isn't this kind of balancing-on-two-wheels technology patented by Segway, though? |

Hi Kevin,
I think they are all very good product shots. In my unprofessional opinion you did a great job.
I like the elevated point-of-view in the first one, Anna-1.jpg. Having the woman in the photo adds a nice touch of human interest. It also gives the viewer a scale to judge the actual size of the product.
In Advance-1-copy.jpg and basic-1.jpg, the reflections fading into white is very nice. The diagonal lines provided by the tilt of the subject makes the shots more dynamic looking. Of these two, I think basic-1 is the better shot; probably because of the foreshortened look and the larger wheels. A little more tilt in the vertical part might make the shot even better.
I think the focus is a touch soft in Brain-Board-2.jpg, and even more so in board-1.jpg. I like the diagonal composition in board-1.
I can't find anything to nitpick in wheel-1.jpg. Although I have no idea what the object is, the photo displays it very clearly.

I think the 2nd and 3rd one are beautiful. I love the reflectin on the bottom. Couldn't ask for a more professional picture.
The boards are nicely lit but one little nit pick or question, would they be more "brandable" if the writing was facing the observer? I can see the company name on the product and think they would get more recongnition if that could be easily read by the viewer. I do think it would be harder to get a good composition with it turned the other way but not impossible.
The one with the model. Good idea, composition and lighting. Her arms look bumpy, especially the back line of the top arm. I think it might have been done in post production while isolating her? You might want to correct it. Even if she should have naturally bumpy arms, you might want to smooth them out for a better presentation. |

Pretty nice, what do you do for lighting? Or perhaps you could also publish a photo of your setup? Just curious. |
