If you're anything like me, you enjoy the great outdoors, you like to go hiking every now and then and maybe even spend the night in the wilderness. Why do I mention this? Well, I haven't found any photo packs good enough for this. I would like to get my hands a good techinical internal frame pack with a water reservior, a good sized main compartment and a compartment for some photographic equipment like an SLR body a couple lenses and maybe even a small travel tripod that folds to about 10 inches. Am I crazy? Am I asking for too much? I'm surprised none of the backpack manufactures (photo or otherwise) have picked up on this. What do you think?

June

Edit: Did I mention all weather?

Outdoor Photographer had something close in it's spotlight this issue.
Here's the OP page.
And here's the manufaturer's site.
It looks like it is just fleece lined so you'd have to buy a couple of wrappers. You never know. Might be what you're looking for.

A possible solution is the modular padded systems for cases like Pelican. You could convert one of your backpacking packs to utilyze some of the space for photo gear....or ALICE clip your camera bag accross your chest attached to the shoulder harness support system. This allows you plenty of room for your tent/bag/pad/cooking/rain gear.

Perfect time of year for that kind of shooting. October is my absolute favorite month. Be aware of the hunters.
