Not a whole lot, but I have to resort to cheap tactics to get people to critique my photos!

------------------------------------------------------------
I want to get started on istockphoto and although stock photography is certainly not my favourite, I thought it would be a good way to improve my technical skills. Your thoughts/suggestions?

Edit: They need to approve 3 samples before I'm in...the 1st one has passed the test.

2nd Edit: Followed advice and further cropped third image. I like it much better now...thanks for the advice!

these are great, the tones on the first image is awesome. good comp. wouldnt change a thing.
in the second image i really like how on the sides of the steps it gets darker, maybe on the left, you could clone out the 2 lights, it takes away from it i think. the overcast day really gave some awesome shadows. i also like the angle and composition as well. the last one is cool too, if it were me, i would crop out the line on the right side. it pulls my eyes away from the cool little rusty thing. but thats just me.

I agree with riotspyne about the third image. The second one I feel is a bit too dim. I understand it was in the evening, but you could come out a little bit towards the light. The first one is the best so far. I'm sure you have a lot of other images to choose from :) Good luck with istock!

PS Sorry, I have no idea which stock site are you going to use. Istock just came to my mind.

Edited: to add a PS note

Here's one more photo I may submit as a stock image to get me started.

Comments/critiques on any of these photos are always appreciated. They help me learn!

I was able to see the first two photos and the rest gave errors and the admins have been notified. I really like the first one and the "under the bridge" shot is also nice but I'm not sure I like the bright sky although it yields a nice soft light on the stairs.

I looked into istockphoto and it looks promising and I might try for that myself just for the exposure aspect. Right now the only place people see my work is via DPC, my galleries that I tell my friends about and on the desktops of the PCs at work. All my coworkers have access to select photos of mine for use as desktop wallpaper. They love them and I will post more for them in the future. At present, I have about 15 images for them to select. Sorry, didn't mean to threadjack but I got carried away. :)

I think I've fixed the thumbnail problem...any other opinions on these 4 photos?

Ahh, better. Now I can see the other two images. I like the third one, rusted, but if you made one change (or maybe two). If the negative space was at the top vs the bottom or maybe even less negative space. Others might have a different view on that but I think there is too much space compared to the main object.

As for the last photo, I think it would have more impact if the plant was larger and directly under the dripping water and title it "Urban garden" or something like that. That's a fine start however.

Now I expect you to comment on my photos when I get them ready for istockphoto's site. :) Just kidding...

Neat...I took my photograph after going to the Museum of Contemporary Photography across that bridge.
I was actually quite disappointed with the museum, but I was able to take more pictures as a result of leaving the museum within half an hour!
