As I am now trying to learn some basic Photoshop skills I'm trying out different techniques on some of my previous challenge entries

One of my better pictures (yes I know, a flower shot) was a bit soft.
I shot it on ISO 1600 ( I played around with my camera and forgot to reset it to a normal ISO)
Now I tried to make it a bit more speaking and like to know what you thinkâ€Â¦
It̢۪s just a subtle difference, but do you think people would have voted differently?

The original:

And the reworked:

Have no idea about voting... but result is very good.:)

I can't begin to guess what others would do, but I'm a sucker for bright colours, so I think maybe I would have scored the new version a bit higher. Either way it's a really good photo.

It sounds like your instincts are telling you that the reworked one would have scored better. I think you should trust your instincts.

Personally I prefer the reworked one because the focus looks better and the stronger contrast and colours make it pop off the screen more.

I like the improved focus in the new one, but not the new contrast/levels. The prior one had more continuous tones and a better range of tones, IMHO.

It's possible a slight adjustment to the black level would improve the challenge photo, but not so much as you did in the rework.

I think I would have scored the second one higher. It has more detail and more dimension.

I'm happy with my photoshop skill getting better...
Maybe I will surprise everybody one time :)

I like the original a bit better. The color is a bit smoother, and I like the softness on the edges of the original flower. I notice many of the comments like the crispness of the new image. Except for the edges it is ok. But I think of flowers as soft objects and the hard edges of the flower in the new image is a bit of a distraction for me.
