What was your Average score for all pictures in the Master's Challenge. ie. total scores divided by number of entries? My average score total for every picture in the contest was 6.63. This is well above the usual averages that I have given out in the past.
To clarify: This is not your personal score, just the average score you gave overall!!

At least I'm not the only one to work out my average!
My average vote given for the masters' challenge was 6.24. My average overall is 5.59.

oops ... true, the 7.39 is what my votes average out at for this challenge, not overall (5.22).

Must be because of the high quality images in Masters. Without doubt THE best challenge on dpc so far. Hope they make this into a yearlyl challenge, and make gold, silver and bronze ribbons!

I think it's because there are no lower scoring photo's to bring the average vote down - but I agree, this challenge had some good ones :) |

Do I actually have to do the math to find this out or does it show up somewhere for me? |

Avg vote given for this challenge is 6.5.
Avg vote given otherwise is 4.93.
I agree, the avg vote is higher because the low-scoring photos are missing (for the most part).
There are not any more high-scoring ones, but I'm not sure why anyone expected there to be. But I did give out 2 10's, which is 2 more than I usually give out.
There is one photo that stands out from all the rest, and I sure hope it wins...I might have a suspicion as to who took the photo and if my suspicions are correct I will be super happy as it would be simply poetic. |

Wow: reading this thread is very revealing. My average vote given is 6.7. and I feel terrible because I switched my entry at the last moment and I think I have defiled the challenge by submitting my new entry.
I say this not to sound dramatic but since my average vote received is below your voting averages it confims my belief that I have entered a lemon and I wish to apologize for my shortsightness and very bad judgement.
Well, I must qualify the last paragraph. Given the chance again, I would have still abandoned the safe image and taken my chances. To me a master's challenge is to push the envelope, I think I ripped it, lol. My original entry, please see first page on my port, is totally safe but why enter something in the masters' which you can see in travel guides or any other challenge.

As long as people haven't changed their voting criteria/methods (I didn't), your 6.7 is still a great score!

You don't have to feel bad about entering a picture you like. Thats what this website is all about and if you don't "push the envelope" you don't learn anything. I knew when I submitted my entry that some people might like it but that many people would not like it. You should see the variety of comments I have gotten. All well taken. |

Oops! No need to apologize for your photo submission, though...I am certain (quite certain, in fact) that the image you posted was a great attempt to push/tear/dispose of the envelope and should be applauded just for that! |

My average vote cast for Masters is 7.23, my normal avg. vote cast is 5.8. I guess I was really impressed by these shots as I don't think I scored anything below a 5 which I think is pretty reasonable given the caliber of the photos. :-)
It was definetly a joy to view and vote on. Maybe someday (far, far, far from now) I'll be able to join the challenge.... Hey, a girl can dream, can't she!?! ;-p |

I haven't done the math but I am sure my average vote given on the Masters' challenge was my highest ever, because the quality of the photos was among the best ever.
I then voted on Whacky Foods and in that challenge we're back to a more or less normal level of stinkers. I hypothesize that if lots of voters voted on the Masters' and then voted on Whacky, then Whacky scores will be unseasonable low. Glad I didn't enter that one. |

the whacky food scores should be some of the lowest scores from what i saw.

Currently, average score cast for Masters = 7.2754 after voting on all images. I may tweak scores but it probably won't affect the average much.
Since I thought this would significantly increase my avg. vote cast overall, I was not going to blow it by voting on Wacky Foods. But I ran the numbers and it will only bring me from a 5.0441 to 5.0673. (Bummer! I'm going to have to be really, really kind in the future if I'm going to make up for past behavior.) |

i aim for an average vote of 5.0 - makes perfect sense - being the peak of the bell curve. not only do you have to take into account each photo individually - but also how they compete against the other entries.
