I really like the editing job you did. The blurring really makes the cop look bike and cop really sharp. The desat on him also provides a good contrast to the color in the backround. Very well done!

The degree of blur you used makes your photo look a bit unreal to me (more artsy than image). If that's not what you're aiming for, back off a bit on the blur.

When selecting the cop and bike, you selected a little extra on the tires. the front tyre specially. this looks a little odd in the whole photo. And as strangeghost said, if you want to give it a real look ( a shall DOF only), the blur it too harsh and makes it look unreal.

What caught my attention, besides what others have mentioned, is the crispness of the reflection on the windshield. Somehow, it makes it look even more unreal.

Why don't you post an unprocesed version of the cropped picture and let other people have a go at it? Ask them to leave comments on what they did?

You have enough negative space to the left of the bike to fit the bike into. Cut the bike and rider out and paste over the pavement -- a slight gradient blur will then minimize the unevenness of the 'background', without making it look unnatural. The only problem will be the area that is above the pavement in the original; some careful work on the edges will have to be done to make it look right.

There was nothing wrong with the original photograph - if you feel like editing then I would perhaps remove all the people and leave it nice and simple with just the nice colors and a cop.

Pretty neat.

Thanks David

I've given some more thought to the windshield, since it will still be a problem, and if you paste into a new layer and erase the trasparent portion of the windshield. This will no doubt make it look unusual without the curvature that is apparent from the reflections. Use of the gradient tool, or perhaps a skewed lens flare, might help to duplicate the reflections. Haven't tried it -- so it may not work at all. :p
