supposed to thunderstorm at 6pm, but we'll see...u know how much the meteorologists have been wrong lately. i'll be coming unless i wake up at like 8 tomorrow and see it pouring out.

Even though I'm going, do you all want to set up another date this month. Wouldn't bother me a bit to have 2 get to gethers. How does the 16th sound?

Sorry I can't make this...but i have a special Manhattan assignment on Sunday so have fun you guys...gotta save everything up for then. :)

I won't be able to make it either....just too tight gelt wise. I really was looking forward to it and will have to try to get to the Philly Zoo in order to even think about entering the wildlife challenge....RATS! hey...you think? Nah, they gross me out. You all have fun and I hope that people from the get together ribbon in all of the up coming challenges. Good luck!

Ok - so it took me an hour to find the Bronx Zoo - when I live 20 minutes away. I haven't been there since I was in 8th grade. I'm now 28 yrs. Old. It's been a while - so I was left to walk around by myself. Oh well. I had a great time anyway. Have to go back sometime soon. Missed some areas, and expected better results on others. But here's some of what I got. - Can't give away my challenge shot, after all.

Had a great time with this group- you guys are a hoot. I wish the sky had been a little brighter, but there were plenty of photo opportunities and it wasn't crowded at all. Those who bailed on us missed a lot. Sorry we didn't see you, atsxus. A few notes...

The first person I met was scroosloos. The first person we lost was scroosloos. We all hung around the Dancing Crane till about 12:45, then went off to take pictures. We never saw him again. CeeDeez disappeared shortly thereafter, but we found her later using sled dogs and a helicopter.

Shoff spent much of the day fighting with his Fuji S7000. If anyone knows how to deal with focusing issues on this model, please send him a PM. Otherwise, just send him your DSLR. He probably won't be too picky about the make or model.

TLL061 was best-equipped with his 10D, battery grip, and 70-200mm f/2.8L (drool)- just need that tele-extender, bud. We had a slow shutter speed showdown: TLL061 with monopod vs. me handheld in low light with long lenses. Monopod wins, but not by much. ;-)

CeeDeez complained about lack of zoom and then proceeded to shoot a gorilla from two feet away. Do you really need more reach to get that nose hair in focus?

I'm sure longlivenyhc and digitalpins were quietly racking up stunning images for the next challenge. They had that, "I-know-something-you-don't-know" look, and are no doubt sorting through a pile of National Geographic winners as we speak.

I'll post some shots in a few days in deference to the impending wildlife challenge.

I'm very depressed! lol I wanted to go so badly, but just couldn't take the time off to go with everything that's going on now. I'll be on the look out for the next one!

Looks like a good bunch of photogs! Really great pictures so far, too. Looking forward to more.

Side note/question: No troubles with backpacks or tripods?

I'm heading to the zoo in two weeks....right after a photo meet in Cape Cod with another site. :-) Glad you guys had fun!

nope, no prob with backpacks, we didnt use any tripods, but TTL used his monopod
