if you open a beer, drink a beer then pee which part would you photograph??? Just think outside the box... or inside the box... or at least a part of the box.

I'd use Tv mode to set the shutter speed at 1/2000 to get a stopped-motion shot of the pee, ...and then crop to one/two drops, which would be part of the pee, right??

sounds like whole drops to me, clearly you could not be bother to read the challenge - 1 ;)

The box has been broken up into parts and scattered.

I wonder if that part could be privat? So a photo of someones private part, would be only a part of the whole self, meaning you could photo the entire privat part!! ohhh, i've gone crosseyed.!!

It's great to be loved - even if it's partially.

yeah, sum of my parts are greater than the whole of me.

I hope I know which parts you love. other parts don't even fit and should not be where they are.

hmmmm... Let's see here. It would probably be better to photograph a part of the part rather than the entire part. Someone might consider your entire part the entire subject, which in turn would be a direct violation of the challenge, which is "photographing a part of the subject". And don't forget, "be creative with your angle". Hence a straight on shot or other common angle will not meet the challenge. And finally, "be creative with your approach". I take this to mean that your set-up should be unique. Hence a shot of water on glass over a flag, or a glass appearing to have different colored liquids in it would not be a unique approach, and thus not meet the challenge. Of course if I am mistaken, feel free to correct me as I hate being pickey...

Is it okay to take a picture of part of a zoo?

Ok - that's just disturbing. But that's why I like it!

Apart from parting from a holistic approach to the subject, what, specifically, would impart more than a marginal sense of a thing, an object (as compared to a thing)? A completeness? Alas, when is one so?

An impartial opinion? Amuse me, I am wholly split already. But to scatter an egg or a sphere...

Anything, no matter how big, is still part of a larger whole.

So.....if a "part" is small, you could use a macro lens to enhance the "part" in order to help it fill the frame or provide a unique view. Correct ?

Even if the part is large, you can do the same thing.

All technical/logistical considerations aside, you could take a picture of the solar system from beyond the orbit of Pluto and say that is "part" of the Milky Way Galaxy. You could also take a picture of the Galaxy and say that it is "part" of the Universe.

Not necessarily, size counts...if the "part" is large you would need a wide angle lens where as if it is small it would require a macro.

:)

OK, I'm lost... who's on first?

Deciding on an appropriate subject is part of the challenge (I was really hoping to avoid that word). While any object may be construed as part (dang!) of a larger whole, showing the whole object would be scoring suicide. If you can't decide whether or not your image portrays a piece (heh, heh) of something, just ask a partner.. (doh!)
