We are hosting an au pair for the year from Sao Paulo, and I'd like to find some pictures from "back home" to decorate her room. Does anyone have a shot or two you'd be willing to share? |

I have some on //www.freespaces.com/mecfcosta
They're on flash, so you won't be able to download them, but I can e-mail them to you if you want. I might have bigger sizes/better resolutions. They're from Rio, though...
Just message me..
Hope it helps. |

Thanks, mecfcosta- a couple of those images would work well, and I sent you a PM. Can anyone else offer a photo or suggestion? Maybe a native plant or flower for the room? She arrives on Thursday. |

How about a soccer ball? They seem to keep beating us Germans! |

That might bring back bad memories of Brazil's loss to the U.S. in olympic women's soccer. |

I just left Rio de Janeiro this morning... I'll try to post some later. I'm in Recife for the rest of this week, so I hope to have more! :-)

I took these pictures on Sunday as we did a little sight seeing in Rio de Janeiro.
By the way, the waterfall picture is kind of unique. It is a panoramic shot ... it is 5 separate pictures, shot horizontally but stacked vertically.
Copacabana Beach
A trolley in the city
An animal in the Tijuca Forest (Anyone know the name???)
Pão de Açucar (Sugarloaf)
Cristo Redentor
Cristo Redentor at night
Copacabana Beach at night
Panorama of Cristo Redentor
Panorama of Pão de Açucar (Sugarloaf)
Panorama of Rio de Janeiro
Panorama of waterfall in Tijuca Forest
The panoramas look much better full size ... especially the waterfall. As 5 stitched images it was effectivelly a 13.75 megapixel image!

Wow! I certainly appreciate all the responses- thanks!
Dwterry- those photos are excellent. Any of them would be perfect if you wouldn't mind providing a high-res or two (I like the panoramas best, but I'm not picky). BTW- that critter is called a coatimuni (coati)- and it's a great wild animal shot!
Terje- is there any place you haven't been? I like your first overview of Sao Paulo since it shows so much of the city, and would be instantly recognizable. Her home might even be somewhere within that shot. Your photo of monte cristo shrouded in clouds is outstanding, and you've got some good shots of the carnival in Rio, too. |

I like the waterfall best, but you're probably talking about the more traditional panoramas (wider than tall), right? Let me know which one and I'll get a high resolution version posted. (they are all at least 5M in size)

Thanks, I had one other person give the same name, so you must be right. :-) I'm just terrible with animal names... I guess because the names generally don't come up in a regular conversation. Thanks for the help!

OK- I'm getting desperate. Despite all the responses to my post, I don't have a single picture to print for the au pair. Is anyone willing to email me a reasonably high-res photo of something Sao Paulo-ish that I can print for my new guest? She arrives tomorrow. Puh-leeeeease? :-) |
