I went to a lookout in a local park yesterday evening to take a few shots.
Here are a few. Comments welcome.

I'll probably go back tonite. I want to do more with the textures and shadows.

Excellent sunset photo. I wish we had sunsets like this where I live.

I really like the tones in that third shot. It's my favorite. I also like the shadows and variety of ground texture in the first one.

Thanks for the comments. The lens used was 28-135 IS USM.

I'll have to try some of the PS filters on the first one as suggested by DoFear.

I love the sunsets of course, but I'm particularly fond of the first image... very nice textures there. Nice and serene with a pleasing composition and soothing tones. Love it! :o)

I went back Sunday for the textures and shadow. Here's one of the results.

Now that is exactly what I'm talking about! Very nicely done. That is a favorite right there

Thanks for the tip for using the brush stroke filter. I tried a few different ones with different settings. My first attempts only produced something that looked just out of focus and not like a painting at all.

Neat effect, eh? DoFear suggested I try it.

I left a couple of comments. The one I didn't comment on was the middle sunset (second picture in original post). To me, on that one, the sun is too bright and the left side hot areas dominate the shot. The last sunset is rich with texture and color.

Thanks for all the comments. The first evening I shot with just the 28-135. The second evening I shot with just the 75-300. I liked the tighter crops the best since they isolate and emphasize the pattern and texture.
