Here are some shots from a recent shoot I did with a model named Veronica. I used one of the shots for my Backlighting entry, but it didn't go over real well.

Below are some other photos from the shoot. Please give me any comments or critiques you have about my work. I'm especially interested in comments about the lighting and my post-processing, as I tried to experiment a little bit.

4. (soft) (bronze quad)

5. (color) (bronze quad)

Thanks for your time!

These are nice. Her face seems so clear, and her skin seems to glow, so nice lighting and probably some good PS work, too.

I like the one you entered in the backlighting the best. Incredible eyes and smile. The only thing that bothers me and it's probably just me, I find myself tilting my head because she has hers tilted the same direction in all the shots. I still like them, just have a sore neck now LOL

Thanks. You're right, I didn't even realize that most of the photos I put on DPC, she is tilting her head in the same direction. :)

Great work Chris. These are really nice. I agree that bronze quad is my favorite. I really like tightly cropped portraits and in that shot you zoom in on her features in a very complementary way. Her head tilting like it is makes the landscape crop work very well too. nice job.

This is my favorite. Her eyes are amazing!! You've captured her beauty very well. I also really like the close-up bronze quad one. Just lovely.

Thanks for the comments so far.

Bump for the afternoon crowd. Any suggestions for improvements or anything? I appreciate the compliments, but I'm looking for some contructive criticism so I can improve.

Only thing I can see wrong is in #4, you need to get the model to not rest so much weight on her arm, as the distortion of her lower eye and cheek are a little distracting. And that's being really nit-picky...

I saw another thread on here a wee while ago about a similiar thing, where a model was putting full weight on a cheek/chin. I think it was someone who actually does portriature who mentioned it, so it's probably good advice, I'm a bit of a wannabe when it comes to people photos :-).

Cheers, Chris H.
