Hobby.
Only plan is to improve to the quality level of Jacko and Kiwiness and Heida and Scalvert and J.M. Setzler and.... many others.
Would be afraid to go pro as it would ruin the fun! |

Thanks for the plug Bongo, but I wouldn't include myself in that class (yet). Your own profile average is higher than mine.
Hobby for me... and an expensive one at that!

Hobby
but I got a job as a photographer assistant recently! I've learned soo much already and it's only been a week. Plus, $15/hour isn't bad for a highschool student :D |

Neither one of these labels sit quite right to me. I take pitchers coz I need to realize (or 'make') something I have not realized (or 'made') before. I have a pretty good idea of what this is, and, to a degree, even what it can mean, but I do not know what form it will take. What I do know (what I have seen and feel) is that it is not something anyone else can do or anyone else can do better than I.
I am or, at least, I see myself as a vessel for a particular and individual 'take' on a common reality of life we all share. As a 'hobbyist' I cannot merit this process; as a professional, profit motives could corrupt my purpose.
Being who I am, I'm not likely to, knowingly, anger the muses. In this, I'm oddly devout. ;-)

I guess this would put you in the "artist" category. :) |

Totally a hobby. I find that if I tend to make money doing anything I love, artistically, I immediately stop loving it anymore.
I doubt I'll ever do Photography professionally.. and if I ever do get into doing portraitures for people, it'll be on a "pay me with dinner and a 6-pack of beer" level :)

Both - I don't make 'half my revenue or more' from photography, but I own my own wedding photo business. It's starting up - it should make me my income in 2006.

Wow, a lot of people saying they think they would love it less if they did it for a living!
I hope that most photographers feel that way, as I have every intention of turning this hobby into a semi-professional activity over the next ten years...mind you, I'm in the very early stages of that plan!
