[Represent the sense of touch in your photograph, or make the viewer feel your subject.]
Could someone clear up this challenge for me? For some reason I'm at a loss. Does it mean touch/feel physical or could it mean touch/feel emotional. Example: A photograph taken that makes the viewer feel the emotions of the subject, happy, sad, and lonely, etc.
Sorry for being at such a loss on this, please comment so I will know if my photo meets the challenge.

I take this to mean the sense of touch would mean tactile touching, like with fingers or some other part of the body.

No matter what anyone says to try and help you define this challenge.. half the voters out there are going to go with physical touch *only* and half the voters will allow more room for emotional feelings.. so.. I don't know what to tell you. Personally, I'll give higher marks for something that represents physical touch, or something that gives the viewer a feeling of being able to physically touch the subject.. but that's just me.. and it really, really depends on the individual photograph I'm looking at. The line "make the viewer feel your subject" is .. frankly.. about as ambiguous as they come.

I submitted a photograph on the second half of the challenge details [ or make the viewer feel your subject] Thinking out of the box here, could this mean making the viewer feel the subjects:
1. Emotion
2. Pain
3. Fear
4. Sadness
5. Loneliness, etc.
About as much detail as I can say without giving away my photograph when the challenge begins, if I don't change my photograph. Do you believe this would fit the challenge?

I think that it's not exactly in the *spirit* of the challenge myself. The challenge is "touch" not "feel". A very large distinction. So, while it probably meets a part of the challenge description, I think you'll get knocked down a lot for not being closer to the spirit of things overall. However, if you really like your shot, and you're not too worried about it, go with your gut.

I also interpret this to mean tactile feeling. You can make the viewer "feel" a suitable subject by emphasizing its texture (rough, smooth, prickly, sticky, or whatever). Some examples (not my photos!):

I feel the challenge was intended to be a tactile challenge, but the wording leaves a lot to be desired.

Since the challenge description can be read to include anything that can be felt, all of the above are applicable as far as I am concerned. However, it says, "or make the viewer feel you subject," and that to me has more too it than just an image with emotional impact.

To clarify what I am saying, take the emotion of fear; in order for it to fit the challenge discription 'Fear' must be your subject. But fear is intangible, so must be conveyed by something else. The image must make the fear the subject, not the physical object(s) that make up the composition. That, I think, is a lot tougher than making an image that simply conveys an emotion. It can certainly be done; it's just more difficult.

I doubt I will count down any image that makes me feel anything, though. The wording is too vague to honestly do otherwise.
