Hello.
I'm torn between the black and white version and the color version of a photograph I took today at the fish martket. Which do you like best?
Color
Black and White/Sepiaish...
Thanks,
June

hey...
It really depends what you want to emphasize. The color shows the colors of the fish and therefor the fish are the focal point. In the black and white version, the signs are emphasized and the fish are not the main focal point. I really like both of them, but i prefer the B&W.
Btw, what was your processing method to get the B&W??

Definitely colour version for me. Love those colours on thje squid, prawns & those little fish. Also, the blue & white price thingies :) Creates a nice balance.
All those rich colours and balance are lost in the B&W.

I like the color best. It has more impact because of the many colors of all the different types of seafood. The black and white just seems like a big blob of the same thing. IMO |

I would vote for the Color version. The pic loses somthing in the B/W/ Nice colors with the signs and fish and shrimp! |

Thanks for your comment!
As for processing...trial and error...just like everything I do..LOL. Ok, if I remember correctly, this is what I did: Levels, Contrast, Color, B&W through Channel Mixer, levels again. THen I converted to grayscale and the duotone. First tone is black second is Pantone 1405c. Then a bit of dodging and burning. Hope that helps.

I like the color best also, usually I like black and white, but I think for this particular shot the color is richer and more interesting :) |

Black and White for me (I'm biased, of course) but the color is also very good. The B&W seems a little dark on my screen. Maybe a little less contrast? Not sure. Every try Johny's B&W Package? I love it and use it on everything now. You can find it here. I've got all of his actions and like them a lot. Good luck!

black and white is better for something moving... and this isn't very moving imho. I think the color looks better. |

I love black and white photos but on this shot, it just feels as though we're losing some of the impact.
I'll go for color too :)

Thanks for all your comments. I agree the color version has a lot of impact, but I also like the b&w. I just wanted to know what others liked better and you have been very helpful.
