Maybe instead of crying about it you should look at the other photographers portfolio and you would find out he has photographed this subject before...this wasn't the first time he used a photo of the GOG in a challenge.

I looked at them both and others, and no offense, but your photo isn't that original. I don't see why you're making such a big deal out of it. I also think the comment you left on the other photog's photo was pretty disrespectful, not to mention this public accusation you started.

You're pretty arrogant to accuse people of going through your portfolio to find photos to steal. Especially when your photo is from a popular park.

I have deleted mine out of principle. While I don't believe you noticed what I was talking about, I think it's best that I remove that particular photo from my portfolio. It's shocking that you spent all that ime looking for a way to prove me wrong, and all you had to do was look at the photos in question to see i'm right. While again I'll say that billions of people have shot those rocks, probably from my angle, with my zoom, with yadda yadda yadda. I didn't see any photos like that on this site or on the print site so I uploaded it, now that there's another (on this site) it seems pointless to have it on here.

I can't believe they stole magicshutter's image for their website.

Those bastards! They even stole the name of their park from his photo title!

:)

for the record. I never said my image was stolen :) only the idea behind it. It's alright though, I've already removed my image. alot of people went through alot of trouble to find a bazillion photos of those same rocks (only none of them came as close as the pics in question). End of story.
originality 0
doing someone elses idea, only differently 1,000,000

Did you treak through the woods for hours to get to this particular spot? Do you really think you are the only person to take a photo from that spot? This is a national park. Come on. There's no originality to your shot. It's a landscape of some mountains. Do you really think this guy even SAW your photo before taking his. I see. He saw your photo on this site, decided to take a trip to this place and COPY your image.

LOL! Give me a break.

I may not be humble, I may be wrong about the whole thing. Sure, alot of things are popular, like any band on the radio. Doesn't mean you can take their work and bend it into your own. Doesn't work that way. I've been shown pics of the same rocks. I deleted mine, I hold my morals. where are yours? as far as accusations, I feel I was wronged. I've explained a bunch of times my reasoning. I don't think it's coincidence, and sometimes the truth is disrespectful.

Let me do this, I'll publicly appologize. I am sorry for saying what I meant on that photograph.

I'll do this. I'm sorry to the author If I've said anything to hurt, embarass, or accuse them of any malicious intent. While I still agree with my prior point, I will say I could have handled it in a different way. In conclusion, I am again sorry if I offended you with any words. In anger I responded, and in the face of a dpc mob, I'll retract it simply because I thought It was way too similar. I still do to an extent but do appologize for hangling it the way I did.

For anyone still reading this thread.

I have just sent a written appology to the author for anything I said that was hurtful. As I told him, I appologize only for saying the things I said and handling it the way I did.

Enjoy your night.

Well, this is one of the fastest growing threads I've ever seen...

At this rate (57 posts in 1 1/2 hours) I believe we can beat the "DPC Record Attempt" in less than 2 days!

Well, this was an interesting read...
I'm the guy who entered the Garden of the Gods shot in the challenge. I go there two or three times a week, as I work at Intel just over the hill. I have hundreds, if not thousands, of images of Garden of the Gods. I shot this just after lunch, when the lighting was bad, just so I could get a shot for the challenge. I barely even got out of my car. I would call it more of a drive by shooting than a planned photo.

I have never looked at your gallery. GOG is a beautiful place... no one needs to get inspiration from anyone else. Just go there and shoot away!

I hope you learn something from this experience. Giving someone a '1' and requesting a disqualification is unacceptable just because you may have shot a similar image at some point in time.

I'll delete my shot if there is some way to do it. I'm really not happy with it, as my 10D is in the shop and I took this with my point and shoot. I also needed to wait for another hour or so for the lighting to be less harsh, but I did not have the time to do so.

All I can say to you is enjoy photography, enjoy these challenge/contest website, and have fun! :)

JD Anderson

Hmmmm.... I really can't see the problem either. I live in Australia and have never been to the US yet I have seen numerous photos of this location. Just like others have never been to Australia and know Ayres Rock (Uluru)...

Edit: Don't think about taking photo of Uluru IT'S MINE!

Sheesh, so the guy made a mistake. Leave him alone now, I'm sure he's learned from the experience.

Lighten up Bob, my comment had noting to do with the mistake that was made. It was a bit of old fashion Australian humor between acouple of Aussies
