Can anyone tell me if shots that have been modified in the virtual photographer "plug in" are still legal for DPC challenges.

The suite seems to feature a lot of pre-set options and effects which are applied to the whole image so I assume that they are OK but it would be useful to get some confirmation here.

I would say not - some of those processes it uses are not otherwise allowed, like the soft focus thing.

Many of the effects are simply combinations of procedures that are allowed anyway - you'll just have to take the time to work out exactly what combination :-)

Or just use it and hope no-one twigs, I guess.

I've decided not to use virtual photographer for any of my submissions (but do use it). As I don't know exactly what goes on during the process I'd be wary of submitting a pic to find it needs validating and I get dq'd especially if it was a possible ribbon winner (as if). Maybe those that know will be along soon??

So that's a "No" then is it ?

Thanks for advice.

I am new to this site and wouldn't want to break the rules of the challenges.

Thanks again

Well some recent ribbon winners used some PSP8 features such as Soft focus and they told it in their description so I guess it's accepted somehow...

I just downloaded and played with the virtualPhotographer plug-in. From the basic editing rules:
...However, no effects filters may be applied to your image, with the exception of Noise and Gaussian blur, the two of which are allowed
So the real question is, can any/all of the effects be duplicated easily using standard, legal tools (hue/sat, levels, curves, and the two allowed effects, gaussian blur & noise.
IMO, all of the effects that they package in the plug-in are doable using legal tools. The soften filter possibly falls outside the "legal" box, however it can easily be duplicated using a gaussian blur.
Bear in mind, though, I'm only one of 17 SC members, so this in no way constitutes carte blanche endorsement.
With regard to the advanced rules, there is nothing I see that would run afoul of the advanced rules, again IMO.
A few comments on the quality of the tool... I like the simple, intuitive user interface, and there are some cool looks in the presets. I don't like the look of the noise the plug-in adds at all. Looks like someone hit your photo with overspray while painting something gray. Also wish the preview window could be resized, it's aboslutely tiny on my screen.

I'd like to try out that plug-in, can I download it?
