I am trying to scan some of my photos from the newspaper and having a couple problems with the 'image' area of the scan.

Example 1

I'm getting these vertical lines in most of them....

Example 2

This one, from a different newspaper doesn't have the problem...

Any ideas on what i need to do to fix this when scanning? These lines are not on the printed image....

i've had that issue with magazine photos.
figured it was the way the ink was applied to the paper. cheap paper, and probably fairly cheap ink.

i'd be curious to see if its avoidable.

There is an option in the scanner software to 'descreen' 85-lpi newspaper prints. The lines still show up in the 'preview' but not in the final scan.
