Great shots there. There is also more nerve with two. lol. Good to know you both had a good time. It is certainly reflected in your images. |

Couple years ago I met up with some people from photocritique.net for some shooting in Chinatown. I had a sony f-707 then and the shutter lag ruined almost every single shot i took (I wasn't checking them at the time as i had the lcd turned off for battery life).
So picture-wise it was a bad day, but I learned how much easier it is to take candids in NYC. People have no idea whats going on. Here in Albany (NY), if I try to photograph people walking by, I'd catch a beat down every third person or so :)
I'd be willing to bet Times Square is the easiest place in the world to get good candids ... lots going on and no one cares about photographers ... it's awesome!
ps ... the very last shot of the little girl is the one I like best ... great job.

These are absolutely wonderful. I want to do that too!! In my small town I could never get away with it, and NYC is across the country from me. You caught some great expressions.

Please post your work flow on these. The PP is just amazing. But the eye to shoot what you shot - that can't be explained. GREAT work!

Pedro: glad to see you found this thread! Your photos put mine to shame. Your processing is a work of art in itself. I like the photo of me the best of course. :) |

Great pics guys. I am planning a day in the city soon and this is great inspiration. Of course Brisbane is not NY :)

Thanks to everyone who posted comments in this thread and on JPRs and My photos. I had an awesome time meeting Jason, even though he's far weirder than me. ;)
Out of about 700 that I took over the course of 4 days, I kept about a hundred; a ratio far higher than normal for me. It was a very emotional few days for me, as a result of both my overwhelming desire to improve at candid photography, and also of the stir of echos that lingers in that city. 9/11 changed New York. people are nicer; more respectful of each other. the pace is a little slower. what a brilliant reaction to a hideous event.
Setting some good thoughts free into the wild today. Hope somebody finds some of them.
Check out Ron's thread over here for some more Ground Zero Photos (please add more if you have them) and the rest of my NYC shots can be found on my website if anyone's interested.
Peace |
