My first 6+ average!!!!
How is everyone doing in this? Since I have very few comments, I am wondering how many people prefer the tried and true scenic cityscapes and sunsets and how many prefer the less traditional approach. |

It's alright though. I scoured this city for Travel Guide worthy submissions and came up short, and submitted something I really didn't like.. so whatever :)

Mine is definatly not traditional, scenic, cityscape or sunset and would appear in a tourist brochure but that is not how people are seeing it.

Mine's not a landscape, building or people but you can definitely find a photo of this in travel guides. Not doing bad but I keep getting 3s and 4s.

Whoa, that's got to be tense, given the master's thing :-)
Most 7's ribbon though ... but it does seem quite high-scoring from this thread.
I'm around the low 6 area, so no threat :-) 12 comments though.

Knowing how many different kinds of travellers and guides there are I'm keeping an open mind on this one. If the image depicts something that appeals to a genre of traveller well I'll score it high. I'm also ignoring titles with the view that these images are assumed to be in context of a travel guide.

OK, so I'm having problems with rating this one (Travel Guides) ... Does a perfectly nice photo of a compass score as well as a similar quality picture of a fantastic destination resort showing all the activities one can undertake? Does a beautiful picture of a bird which can be in any city world wide score as high a similar quality image of Seattle, Washington, and surrounding environs? Does an image with only one item shown score as well as a similar quality image with lots of things shown? Are we looking for the cover of the guide or a small explanatory image on page 7?

As Jon has just written, there are so many types of travel guides ... that said, there are a few shots that seem to me more like travel advertising, so I'm perhaps marking those down a little.
But you've read, or seen, Travel Guides, surely. Look at the shot, ask yourself if you can imagine it in one, and then vote. I don't think that means that you have to vote a 1 if you think it doesn't fit, though :-)

Here's the way I look at it:
1. Could this image be seen in a travel guide of some sort?
2. Is the image technically well done?
3. What's the WOW factor of the image?
Does this help?
It's difficult with so many different types of photos.

I'm thinking that it won't ribbon just by the low number of comments. Up to 11 now. I think it's going to be another close call, but no ribbon. If so, it'll be the fifth time...
